Anyone who sews knows that getting started can often be the most frustrating part, as threading needles can be so tricky.

There are many reasons to get out the sewing kit. Perhaps you’re mending a hole in your clothes, upcycling something old or even doing a bit of cross-stitching to unwind.

It can be quite a relaxing hobby, though the calm vibes can quickly be ruined right from the very beginning.

For many threading a needle can be too fiddly and cause much stress – it’s such a tiny hole!

However, thanks to X (formerly Twitter), we’ve found a simple trick for threading a needle that will save you both time and anger – and all you need is a scrap of paper.

A video shared by Today Years Old captioned ‘years of struggling and it was this simple?’ shows someone struggling to thread a needle. They then put the thread inside a small scrap of paper and folded it.

The paper is then cut into a triangle and easily placed through the needle’s eye.

It’s revealed that the thread has magically passed through the hole with the paper, easily threading the needle. Seriously, who knew it was that easy?

The video has been viewed over 1.4 million times and has been shared by thousands of frustrated sewers who simply didn’t know this energy-saving hack existed.

However, as is often the case with X, opinions were mixed – and not everyone was happy.

Some claimed the trick was old and that needle threaders had been around for years, with @Borzoiii calling it a ‘waste of time.’

However, @kamscruz called it a ‘very useful interesting hack!’

@Shoaibpage agreed, writing: ‘Wow, this is so easy!’, while @Myawoman chimed in with a grateful ‘Oh! Thank you!’

So, whether you think it’s overly simple or the bee’s knees, the next time you tear a hole in your jeans, consider making your life easier with this little hack.
