Glastonbury 2025 Saturday live: Kneecap vow to ‘start a riot outside court’ as set kicks off
The Irish rap group have been at the centre of controversy in recent months.

Kneecap have kicked off their Glastonbury set in typically defiant fashion, although it is not being broadcast live by the BBC.
The Irish rap group, who started with an amalgamation of clips of news coverage about their political activism, are currently playing to a packed out audience at West Holts.
Glastonbury Festival closed the area nearly an hour before they were due onstage due to overcrowding fears.
Shortly after coming onstage, Móglaí Bap declared: ‘If anybody’s available on the 20th of August at Westminster, we’re gonna support [Mo], we’re gonna start a riot outside the courts!’
Member Mo Chara (real name Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh) has been released on bail after facing court on a terror offence, following accusations that he displayed a flag at a London gig last year in support of the Lebanese Shia Islamist political party, Hezbollah, a proscribed organisation in the UK.
Once they finished the following song, Móglaí Bap (born Naoise Ó Cairealláin) then clarified of his earlier pronouncement: ‘No riots, just love and support – and most important, support for Palestine.’
He also admitted that ‘this situation can be quite stressful for us at times, but the stress is minimal compared to [that of Palestinians]’.
Neil Young’s headline set at Glastonbury 2025 will now reportedly be shown live on the BBC.
Elsewhere in today’s festival, an all-star lineup includes Neil Young And The Chrome Hearts on the Pyramid Stage, who will now be broadcast live, the Scissor Sisters on Woodsies, and Doechii on West Holts, among many more.
This afternoon, we’ll also finally learn who the mysterious secret act ‘Patchwork’ is as well – after Lewis Capaldi’s emotional performance last night, the favourite is now Chappell Roan, but there’s speculation mounting (in the Metro office at least) that it may be Robbie Williams.
