Consider the hatchet buried.

The guns have fallen silent, and the wait is officially over—Oasis is back.

Once-feuding brothers Noel, 58, Liam Gallagher, 52, last performed together in 2009, and no one has been in any doubt about the frosty relationship between them since the band split.

But now, after 16 years of both private rows and public mudslinging—and for the sake of taking home a reported £50million each—the siblings have called a truce.

Tonight, they walked out to a roaring, sold-out crowd at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, to kick off their hotly anticipated reunion tour, which was announced last August.

Bang on 8:15pm, Noel and Liam launched into their tune Hello, which seems a rather apt opener.

After this, they went into Acquiesce, which originally appeared as the B-side to Oasis’ first number-one single, Some Might Say, in 1995.

It was also the opener that many predicted when a set list seemingly leaked just days ago ahead of the gig to 74,500 adoring fans.

The brothers swaggered out on stage in their usual attire—Liam in his coat and Noel in a denim shirt—following a video displaying numerous headlines about their feud and subsequent reconciliation.

‘This is not a drill,’ also appeared on the screen in giant letters, with the crowd—decked out in bucket hats, shades, and Oasis merch—sending cups flying by jumping in the air once the Mancunian Britpop band appeared.

Before their third song, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? Liam said on the mic: ‘Hello, people, it’s been too long.’

‘It’s good to be back, good to be back,’ he added, then shouting: ‘Yes, beautiful people!’

Liam addressed the crowd several times throughout the first half of the show. Appearing to indicate someone in the audience, he said at one point: ‘I see you’re still on the glue down here then?’

Ahead of launching into Cigarettes & Alcohol, the lead singer demanded the audience embrace, telling fans to turn around and hug a stranger.

He said: ‘Right then, beautiful people, I want to see you all turn around and put your arms round each other.

‘And when the tune starts, jump up and f*****g down.’

Noel and Liam appeared to want to keep their distance for much of the night, which follows rumours that they barely rehearsed together in the lead-up to the inaugural show.

However, at one point in an undeniably historic moment, Liam grabbed his older brother’s arm and raised it high in the air, basking in the applause and screams from the packed stadium.

Their official Instagram account also posted a black-and-white snap of the band walking out, Liam with his arm around Noel.

In the comments, @gratefulgnomads declared: ‘the boys are back in town!!!’

’The world has healed’, stated @pablosivoriok, while @bubblegunnogum said: ‘I’m crying MY GUYS are back TOGETHER!!!!!’

After performing Roll With It, Noel took over singing duties for three tracks while Liam left the stage.

He also made a cheeky reference to the dynamic pricing scandal that ensued in last year’s ticket sale. Quoting the audience a price, he then said, ‘It’s just gone up.’

In more tearful moments of the show, during the final bars of Live Forever, a picture of Diogo Jota, the Liverpool footballer who died earlier this week in a car accident, was displayed.

The crowd reacted by cheering and applauding the gesture as football fans grieve the loss of the 28-year-old dad of three and his brother.

When the first Oasis gig in over 15 years came towards its end, after their song Rock n Roll Star, Liam launched his tambourine to fans.

Then, as part of their encore for The Masterplan, Noel shouted to the crowd: ‘This one is for all the people in their twenties that haven’t seen us before, who’ve kept this s**t going for the last f*****g 20 years.’ Similarly, Liam thanked supporters for ‘putting up with [them] over the years’.

Don’t Look Back in Anger was up next, with Wonderwall the penultimate tune and Champagne Supernova the big finisher, both brothers making up for their lack of banter throughout the night with a brief high-five.

Present tonight were plenty of famous faces, all keen to say they were part of music history.

Long-time Oasis fan Louis Tomlinson was in the building, joined by Danny Dyer, Vicky McClure, and Vernon Kay, plus the band members’ own children.

Tonight, Noel and Liam were joined on stage by Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Joey Waronker.

Doors opened at 5pm, before support acts Cast and Richard Ashcroft performed at 6pm and 7pm, respectively.

From here, Oasis will travel the UK and Ireland with 18 more shows this year before heading across Europe, with tickets sold to 900,000 fans.
