Destination X fans are completely crashing out after a fan-favourite contestant was shown the coach door before the final.

The penultimate episode of Rob Brydon’s Europe-traversing gameshow with a twist aired on the BBC on August 27 as the last handful of contestants raced to give their best guess at their location from the clues they had picked up along the way.

After landing in Monaco, with hints like F1 and Grace Kelly peppered along the way, it was unfortunately taxi cab driver Daren Parr, 58, whose guess ultimately fell the furthest away.

The Gavin and Stacey star emotionally delivered to the bus full of contestants: ‘Daren, this is hard, I’m sorry, but I’m afraid for you, this is your final destination.’

That leaves our finalists with literal kilometres lying between them and the £100,000 jackpot.

So, who’s with the finish line in sight who made it to the finale?

Who’s in the Destination X final?

Judith, Josh and Saskia were the three Destination X contestants to make it to the final.

Speaking to the BBC after the semi-final, all three contestants explained what they’d do with the prize money.

Josh, a 26-year-old pilot, said he’d pay his parents back the money they spent on flight school.

‘I would love to be able to give them something back to show how much I appreciated it and then use some to go travelling with my girlfriend,’ he said.

Judith, 28, meanwhile, would ‘love to treat her family,’ and go travelling. ‘Just being able to set up a future for myself would be amazing,’ she added.

Finally, Saskia, 25, would share the winnings with her mum as a thank you for what she’s ‘sacrificed over the years’ raising a family.

Daren’s fellow Destination X contestants were devastated when he was eliminated and immediately jumped in for a cuddle, tears in their eyes.

‘Listen, it’s been a privilege, it really has to get to know you all. Jackie P, here I come’ Daren said with a crack in his voice as he left.

And they aren’t the only ones getting emotional, considering how much support he had from the public, who are thrilled he can go back to his wife of 35 years, Jackie P, whom he had hoped to buy a new kitchen with the winnings.

Now that Daren’s gone, it seems most are now rooting for nuclear engineer Judith.

‘Gutted I tell you. Daren was my favourite, at least he can be with Jackie P,’ lady_carrie said on X.

‘I’m so disappointed that Daren hasn’t made it to the final. Such a lovely, down-to-earth, genuinely nice guy. I would have loved for him to win. I’m now Team Judith for the final,’ MrsP_A added.

‘Oof. That was rough. Daren is a nice man,’ Matthew Rimmer declared.

‘Daren can go home to Jackie P now. I was praying so hard for him to get through,’ Alexi__19 shared.

‘The people’s princess,’ Ellasrhapsody wrote.

‘My heart is broken,’ Shiv Harrison admitted.

With £100k on the line, some fans have even speculated that a major betrayal could be on the horizon.

@EurovisionFaith shared a post on X saying, ‘I think I’ve seen this film before and I didn’t like the ending’, along with a picture of Harry from The Traitors.

Those who watched season 2 of Traitors will no doubt remember that Harry ultimately betrayed his friends and teammates to claim the grand prize for himself.

Could we see similar cutthroat behaviour during the Destination X finale?

The final episode of Destination X airs on Thursday, August 28 at 9pm on BBC One.
