The BBC has just dropped all six episodes of the second season of a nail-biting French war drama which tracks a commando group fighting ISIS in Iraq.
Dark Hearts, or Coeurs Noirs in French, follows the special forces unit Group 45 as the country is on the brink of the battle of Mosul in 2016.
Starring Marie Dompnier, Thierry Godard and Nicolas Duvauchelle, the group have been tasked with extracting the daughter and grandchildren of a high-ranking ISIS leader.
The aim is to use them as leverage against the ISIS leader, to gain crucial information about an imminent terrorist threat in the region.
From director Ziad Doueiri – of the Oscar-nominated film The Insult – the second season of the high-stakes drama gets straight into the thick of it, as the unit sees an intelligence agent swoop in to help the rescue mission for Sabrina (Nina Meurisse), who’s been nabbed.
But when there’s an attack on the French consulate, the ongoing negotiations suddenly go out the window…

Dark Hearts, which the BBC first acquired in 2023, is described as an ‘explosive, tough action drama.’
