‘Absolute car crash of a film’ dominates Netflix chart with nearly 13,000,000 views
Critics were not impressed...

Venom: The Last Dance has soared to the top spot on Netflix’s global charts, despite being met with a wave of dismal reviews.
Tom Hardy reprised his role as Eddie Brock in the third and final instalment of the Marvel superhero trilogy, which hit the big screen in October, 2025.
The 47-year-old was joined in his latest adventure by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Stephen Graham, Rhys Ifans and Juno Temple, with Kelly Marcel serving as director.
The sequel followed both Eddie and Venom as they went on the run and found themselves separately hunted by police for the death of Mulligan (Stephen) – while also fending off government official Rex Strickland’s (Chiwetel) team as well as a suitably creepy Xenophage monster.
Although the flick left critics less than impressed, this did nothing to turn off viewers as Venom: The Last Dance dominated the Netflix charts for the last week.

Within days of being added to the US version of the streaming service, it stole the top spot with over 12.8million viewers in the last seven days, and more than 23.3million hours viewed in total.
The movie beat out stiff competition from Despicable Me 2-4, the Minions Movie, Uncharted and La Dolce Villa for the crown.
This may come as a surprise to some as it has a 40% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics, compared to an 80% ranking from the audience.
Radio Times’ Patrick Cremona slammed: ‘Like the previous entries, it’s also something of a tonal jumble, part goofy buddy comedy, part po-faced sci-fi tale, with neither passing muster on their own, never mind awkwardly stitched together.’
John Serba from Decider agreed: ‘It’s all so pointlessly silly, and loud, so so very loud, and very much aware of how silly and loud it is, because that seems to be the desperately stupid goal of these films.’
The film served as the final part of a trilogy (Picture: Sony Pictures)‘An absolute car crash of a film. That’s not to say that bits of it aren’t entertaining… if you throw enough poop at the wall, then some of it it’s gonna stick,’ Mark Kermode of Kermode and Mayo’s Take penned.
As Flickering Myth’s Robert Kojder added: ‘Venom: The Last Dance is the agonizing death rattle for what might be the most irritating series of superhero movies within the past 25 years, but it does contain one tolerable, even slightly amusing, stretch.’
Venom: The Last Dance was added to Netflix in the US on February 25 – it is not currently available to stream in the UK, but can be purchased or rented from Amazon Prime Video.
Venom first premiered in 2018 (Picture: Sony Pictures)Tom first took on the dual role of Eddie and Venom in the original movie, which was met with rave reviews in 2018.
He returned for Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021, and once more in The Last Dance last year.
Addressing the future of the franchise, director Kelly explained that they had reached the end of their current three-picture contract with Sony.
Could we see Tom take on the role again? (Picture: AP)‘Yes, it is the end of a contract. We were asked to do three, we’ve delivered three, and who knows what the future holds,’ she said at the time.
‘I hope that we’ve laid groundwork for them in this third movie with other characters and other symbiotes and bad guys that they can run with, should they choose.
‘But this is the last one for Venom and Eddie.’
Venom: The Last Dance is available to stream on Netflix now.
