An Oasis fan has died after falling from an upper tier of Wembley Stadium during the band’s show on Saturday.

The man – aged in his 40s – was understood to be sitting in the upper tier of the stadium as Noel and Liam Gallagher performed to a sell-out crowd last night.

Although police and paramedics rushed to assist him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told the Daily Mail: ‘It was horrendous.

‘The guy fell from a balcony. Paramedics came rushing over. There was a lot of screaming and shouting.

‘It was a big fall. God knows how it happened. It was so tragic. I don’t know how on Earth it happened.

‘It was heartbreaking.’

One fan, who was seated below the man in a lower tier, posted on social media about witnessing paramedics do their best to try and save the man after he hit the concrete.

‘I was directly underneath in section 211. At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see,’ she wrote, as reported by The Sun.

Soon after news of the man’s death was announced, Oasis released a statement ‘extending their sincere condolences’.

‘We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night,’ they said.

‘Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.’

The highest stands in the 90,000-seat venue in north-west London are around 170ft above the ground.

Confirming the news in a statement to Metro, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘At around 22:19hrs on Saturday, 2 August, officers on duty at Wembley Stadium for the Oasis concert responded alongside venue medics and the London Ambulance Service to reports that a person had been injured.

‘A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

‘The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.’

A spokesperson for Wembley Stadium also said: ‘Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert-goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall.

‘Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died.

‘Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers. The police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. Tonight’s Oasis concert will go ahead as planned.’

Last night’s show was the band’s fourth London performance as part of their massive reunion tour, with three more to come in the capital.

Last year more than 14 million fans tried to secure tickets for the shows, which kicked off in Cardiff on July 4.

It marked the first time the brothers had performed together since an infamous bust-up in 2009.

Over the next few months, they will also play shows in Ireland, Canada, the United States, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile and Brazil.

Metro has contacted representatives for Oasis for comment.
