Horror fans, we have some bad news as Devon Sawa poured cold water on rumors he will be returning to the Final Destination fold.

The 46-year-old, who first came to fame in Casper, fronted the supernatural horror film in 2000 alongside Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, Kerr Smith and Tony Todd.

He played teenager Alex Browning, who had a premonition on board a doomed flight to Paris and scrambled to get off the plane.

His panic led to a string of his classmates also leaving the flight, but they then found themselves stalked by ‘Death’ as revenge for messing up the plan.

Death ended up taking Alex’s life but there has been intense speculation that he could somehow reappear in the upcoming Final Destination: Bloodlines prequel, which is released in May and set before the events of the first movie.

However, in a new interview to promote his stint in horror film Heart Eyes, he took a moment to clear up the claims.

‘I’m not in it,’ he insisted to Forbes. ‘Every movie has been a cast of new kids. Teo Briones, who played my son in the first season of Chucky, is in it, and so I’m rooting for him.

‘I’ve seen every Final Destination movie in the theater. I can’t wait to see what the new cast does with it. Maybe one day in the future; who knows? I’m not this one. I hear it’s really good, though.’

The first trailer for Bloodlines was released last week, and confirms our worst suspicions that Death is back with an almighty vengeance.

The sequel could be a little different to what Final Destination fans have in mind, as we may get more of an understanding over those pesky premonitions.

An official synopsis reads: ‘The newest chapter in New Line Cinema’s bloody successful franchise takes audiences back to the very beginning of Death’s twisted sense of justice – Final Destination Bloodlines.

‘Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.’

Ahead of the release on May 16, the teaser was released earlier this month and scared us all silly.

It began with a woman getting her tongue piercing in a dark tattoo parlor, but things take a turn when the piercer’s nose ring somehow gets attached to the ceiling fan by a loose chain.

Death clearly isn’t taking any chances as he then knocks over a light and sets the entire room on fire, while also getting alarmingly close to the fan…

Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait before seeing the full sequence on the big screen.,

Kaitlyn Santa Juana is leading the cast beside Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore and Rya Kihlstedt.

Todd, who died in December at the age of 69, will make a posthumous appearance as William Bloodworth, having popped up in four of the first five flicks.

Final Destination: Bloodlines is released in cinemas on May 16.
