Previous Page Next PageThe incredibly well-received Jude Law film The Order has been added to streaming platforms.
The Order is a thrilling crime drama directed by Justin Kurzel and written by Zach Baylin that was released in December 2024.
Starring Law and Nicholas Hoult, the film tells the tale of an FBI agent (Law) who goes after a white supremacist terrorist group known as the Order (led by Hoult).
The film is partially inspired by real events and a real white supremacist group that was active in the United States in the 1980s.
The film was well-reviewed but had a limited theatrical release, in part due to the political context in the lead-up to the election and inauguration.
The film managed to fly somewhat under the radar with many viewers – but those who saw it insisted that it was ‘terrific’ – with specific praises aimed at Law’s performance.

Lord have mercy, out of absolutely nowhere Law gives one of the finest performances of his career as he goes toe to toe with Nicholas Hoult in a throwback cops & robbers thriller,’ said CinemaTweets1.
The same person also tweeted a month later: ‘Cinema is The Order.’
‘One of the most badass interrogation scenes of the year, JudeLaw is f*****g TERRIFIC in “TheOrder”,’ said DerekBrocks.
‘THE ORDER is terrific. Kurzel going Mann-mode — highline heists, workaholic cops, elemental stare downs with wildlife — dramatizing how dangerously swift white supremacy turns militant.
‘A mite too tropey, but this is elegant, bracing cop cinema. Best Actor to Jude Law’s mustache,’ said metaplexmovies.
‘I know there are a lot of movies coming out right now, but don’t sleep on THE ORDER. It’s really great,’ said BilgeEbiri.
Law has been praised for his work (Picture: Everett/REX/Shutterstock)The film has earned an impressive 92% Rotten Tomatoes score, with praise from film reviewers emphasising the pacing of the film and the high-octane action sequences.
Bilge Ebiri said for The New York Times Magazine: ‘Phenomenal performances from Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult anchor Justin Kurzel’s absorbing, beautifully shot, intensely disturbing new crime thriller.’
‘Kurzel’s film is part hard-bitten character study… But The Order also works as a gripping procedural in its own right – a long-form game of investigative join-the-dots, built around a series of lethally disciplined action scenes,’ said Robbie Collin for The Telegraph.
‘The Order is the kind of tense reflection on American violence that Hollywood rarely puts on the big screen anymore,’ said Jordan Mintzer for The Hollywood Reporter.
Owen Gleiberman said in an article for Variety: ‘A supremely intelligent docudrama about the rise of the white-supremacist movement and a riveting crime story.’
The Order is available to stream now on Amazon Prime.
