Aubrey Plaza makes first on-screen appearance after husband’s death in Super Bowl commercial
The director and screenwriter took his own life last month.

In early January, The White Lotus actress’ husband died at the age of 47 after taking his own life.
Sharing a statement following the director and screenwriter’s death, Aubrey said she was facing an ‘unimaginable tragedy’, asking for privacy before going on to delete her social media accounts.
Just over a month later, she’s appeared on screen again, in a commercial for Ritz that aired overnight at the Super Bowl.
The ad, which was filmed in November last year before her husband’s death, sees Audrey embrace her saltier side.
Appearing alongside Michael Shannon and Bad Bunny, the actress declares she is the ‘saltiest’ before they debate the topic.

‘Saltier than me?’ Shannon asks. ‘
When I smile people assume it’s a glitch,’ he adds, before Aubrey jumps in and declares she’s the ‘human version of Monday.
After Michael says his personality ‘cures meats’ Aubrey hisses, to which he responds she’s a ‘salty freak’,
The pair then take a bite of the crackers before reprimanding Bad Bunny for smiling.
After news of her husband’s death broke, Aubrey released the following statement: ‘This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.’

Baena was best known for writing the 2020 thriller Horse Girl, starring Alison Brie, and the 2022 dark comedy Spin Me Round, both of which he also directed.
He also created the 2004 comedy I Heart Huckabees starring Jude Law, Jason Schwartzman, Dustin Hoffman, and Mark Wahlberg.
Baena and Aubrey also worked on several films together, including 2014’s Life After Beth and 2017’s The Little Hours.
