Noel Fielding made a surprise appearance on stage at a music gig just over a month after it was revealed that his TV show had been axed midway through filming.

In January this year, it was announced that The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin – in which the Great British Bake Off host played the titular lead character – had been halted while season two was in the process of being made.

It was said at the time that production had been halted due to an issue regarding Noel’s ‘health’, while a source claimed that he said that he ‘can’t film anymore’.

Weeks after his representative confirmed that he would be returning to co-host the next series of Bake Off following supposed ‘crisis talks’ about his future on the Channel 4 show, the 51-year-old has been spotted in high spirits at a Kasabian gig.

Last night at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, the British rock band performed in aid of the charity War Child in the lead-up to the Brit Awards.

As Noel appeared on stage, he was met with rapturous cheers and applause from the audience.

With a big smile on his face, he jokingly declared about Bake Off judge Dame Prue Leith: ‘It’s all kicking off backstage. Me and Prue just did Jägerbombs, Prue Leith.’

Then as quickly as he arrived, he jetted off, blowing a kiss to the concert attendees before walking off stage.

In 2009, Noel appeared in the music video for Kasabian’s song Vlad the Impaler, playing the titular character of the song.

He then reprised the role two years later in the music video for Re-Wired, and in 2014 when he appeared on stage at Glastonbury Musical Festival with the group.

In 2012, Noel and Kasabian musician Sergio Pizzorno formed the alternative music group Loose Tapestries, releasing two albums in 2012 and 2016.

Last month, it was claimed that there could be a chance for The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin to be saved after filming was halted.

A TV insider told The Sun: ‘It’s now considered to be something of a salvage operation, although it’s not clear whether they have enough to do anything with.

‘But the creators sank millions into making the show and it was around 70 to 80 per cent filmed by the time the axe fell.’

It was previously claimed that more than 100 members of the cast and crew were considering taking legal action after production on the second season was scrapped.

A spokesperson for Noel told MailOnline: ‘This is a private and confidential matter regarding our client’s health.

‘We are saddened by the decision to cease production but we cannot make any further comment on this matter.’

A source also claimed that there was ‘no choice to stop’ as the Bake Off star ‘said that he can’t film anymore’.
