A BBC presenter has announced she is stepping down after more than 30 years.

First working at BBC Radio Nottingham as a newsroom assistant in 1992 she later moved to TV as a picture editor and planner for BBC East Midlands Today in 1997.
It was at this time she stood in as BBC East Midlands Today’s weather forecaster and fronted the weekly what’s on guide, Roving Reinger.
She also worked on other features for programme including Gardens Galore, Dream Jobs and Crazy Collectors.
Julie, 51, then became BBC’s Look East weather presenter in 1999 and has also presented weather bulletins for six BBC Local Radio stations in the area.

Making the announcement, she said it was now ‘the right time to go’ and that today would be her final day.
‘It hasn’t been an easy decision to leave my Look East and local radio family, but it feels like this is the right time to go,’ she said.
‘It has been a privilege to bring our viewers and listeners their local forecast for so many years.
‘Come rain or shine, we’ve shared lots of fun and laughter along the way.’
She continued: ‘I feel very blessed to have been able to work in such a beautiful part of the country and to have such a special connection with those who live here.

Julia went on to share that her time on Look East and local radio had been ‘very special’ and that she would miss ‘my colleagues and everyone watching and listening very much’.
BBC senior head of content production for the east Robert Thompson said: ‘Julie has been bringing sunshine to BBC Look East and to our BBC local radio stations across the region for the past 26 years.
‘And even when the weather’s been rocky Julie has guided us all through it as a trusted friend. We will miss her brightening our airwaves and we wish her lots of luck for the future.’
