Celebrity Big Brother viewers still don’t believe Michael Fabricant’s claim his eye-catching hairstyle is his own.

On tonight’s return of the ITV reality show, the former politician was one of the famous faces sent into the house.

Last year, reality TV star David Potts won the show, with a bunch of celebrities hoping to follow his success for the 2025 season.

Before the line-up was officially announced live, many said they couldn’t wait to see Michael, 74, appear.

Refencing his bold locks, X user @brattybarbi quipped: ‘This time next week we’ll be tuning into watch Patsy Palmer and JoJo Siwa speculating about whether Michael Fabricant’s wearing a wig.’

As predicted, many people couldn’t help but comment on his appearance when tuning in.

But what’s the truth about his hair? Keep reading to find out…

Who is Michael Fabricant and what is he best known for?

Michael Fabricant is a former Conservative MP, having represented Lichfield in Staffordshire from 1992 to 2024.

Although the show steered clear of politicians last year, Michael, 74, is joined the lineup alongside the likes of Patsy Palmer, JoJo Siwa, Trisha Goddard and Jack P. Shepherd.

In 2024, he lost his seat in the House of Commons after 32 years, and the outspoken politician is now looking for his next adventure after a string of controversies.

He once shouted ‘b*******’ loudly in the chamber during a 2016 discussion on the EU referendum, and even cycled naked around a London park to raise money for charity.

Ben Harris, who served as his senior research between 2016 and 2024, told The Sun: ‘There are no mind games with Michael – he has no filter. If he doesn’t like something you’ve said or done you’ll soon find out about it, and that’s why we love him.’

He also insisted the former MP isn’t the ‘fire-breathing right-winger’ he sometimes appears on TV.

‘He’s actually fairly moderate on a lot of issues, and is a big believer in evidence over rhetoric,’ Ben added.

Does Michael Fabricant wear a wig?

His hairstyle has been the subject of plenty of debate and chatter, with people wondering if the Boris Johnson-esque blonde ‘do was all his own.

During a 2017 appearance on Celebrity First Dates for Stand Up To Cancer, his date Jan commented on his sexuality, and he described himself as ‘probably bisexual’. She insisted ‘the wig is a bit of a giveaway’ and urged him to ‘get rid of it’.

He insisted, ‘my hair is me’ and called her rude for commenting on his appearance, arguing: ‘I won’t discuss your breasts if you promise not to discuss my hair.’

Back in 2014, he was asked about his hair by the Mirror, and insisted it was ‘a lot more complicated’ than wearing a wig.

He added: ‘OK, all I will admit to is that there is some — but only some—enhancement of the follicular area.’

It’s not stopped people speculating though. Back in 2019, MP Huw Merriman was seen on camera saying ‘It’s definitely a wig’ to fellow Conservative Kelly Tolhurst in parliament.

Who is Michael Fabricant’s partner?

Michael isn’t married, but has referred to former West Midlands Mayor Andy Street as his ‘life partner’.

‘We’ve got a place together in Wales because we both like walking. We go on holidays together, and we’re, you know, we’re very, very close,’ he told GB News in December 2021.

‘But we lead separate lives. If we lived together all the time, I think we’d murder each other.’

He described their bond as ‘something special’ but one he wasn’t ‘quite sure’ how to define.

In a separate interview with GB News several months later, Andy noted they ‘don’t live together’, but have formed a close bond over the years.

‘We don’t live together, to be really clear about it, but we are very close and I know he will always be there for me and me for him,’ he said.

‘If you’re not married with kids you do need a different group of intense friends to provide that sort of support network and Michael has been an intense friend for many, many years.’

Ahead of going into the house Michael admitted his hair had ‘become a bit of a hot topic’ over the years.

However, he again made it clear it’s au natural, saying: ‘It is my own- I can show you the receipts. It cost a fortune.’

Despite this many viewers still didn’t believe him.

‘Michael’s hair CANNOT be real pls,’ Matt posted on X.

‘I can’t get over Michael’s hair,’ Lewis shared.

‘Michael Fabricant’s hair is worse than some of my cheap amazon cosplay wigs,’ user twilightsquire added.

Others were equally brutal, calling it ‘atrocious’.

Speaking about what he’s most likely to be nominated for in the house, Michael explained: ‘Either I’m talking too much or I’m not talking enough, who knows what people find annoying about others?

‘I like singing out loudly to myself, but my impersonation of Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music is not to everyone’s taste.

‘But one thing I’m well aware of is that we have to nominate someone. So it could be they don’t like people with blonde hair – it could be anything, who knows? I think I’ll find it difficult to nominate people. I’m hoping for the best.’

Celebrity Big Brother continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV1.
