Dame Prue Leith reveals she ‘hasn’t got much longer’ in alarming admission
She's revealed her hearing has also gone.

The Great British Bake Off’s Dame Prue Leith has revealed she ‘does not have much longer’ in an alarming admission.
Earlier this year, the baking judge revealed she was taking a break from the celebrity version in 2024 in order to have time to pursue other passions.
In March, she also revealed she was struggling ‘to hear at all’ as she is using hearing aids.
Now, the 85-year-old TV personality, who recently appeared on The Masked Singer, has revealed she wants to spend every minute she can with her husband, John Playfair.
Speaking to Holly Rubenstein on The Travel Diaries podcast, Dame Prue confessed: ‘I haven’t got much longer, I’m 85, I want to spend as much time as I can with him.’

She elaborated: ‘So, if we are filming abroad, or like next week, we’re going to New York, because I’ve got to publicise the American baking show, then I’m now old enough for my agent to say “I’m sorry, but she has to ring her husband, because she’s 85, she needs someone to carry the bags.

Dame Prue divulged her health update with her hearing during a speech at Cambridge Union as she apologised to students.
Interrupting the conversation taking place on stage, she said: ‘Sorry, I am a bit deaf so I am struggling to hear a bit.
‘This is so embarrassing because I really can’t hear at all. My husband is so cross with me as I have just been given some hearing aids and I never remember to put them in. I am so sorry,’ per The Mirror.
Dame Prue, who is a South African restaurateur, was a judge on BBC Two’s Great British Menu for eleven years, before joining The Great British Bake Off in March 2017.

However, it appears that Love Productions have decided to stay with Channel 4 after all, with fears that Bake Off would go behind a subscription thankfully eased.
