A Gogglebox star has married their girlfriend of nearly a decade after quitting the Channel 4 programme to pursue a radically different career.

Josh Tapper, 27, who appeared on the reality TV show for five years from 2013 before leaving to work in politics, now has a wife, his long-term partner Hannah.

On Instagram, his sister and fellow Gogglebox star Amy Tapper, 25, shared pictures of the ceremony and said she was at a loss for words over the ‘incredible day.

She wrote: ‘The New Mr and Mrs Tapper!!???????? No words to describe this incredible day from start to finish…

‘I’d say welcome to the family @hannahtapper_ but you’ve been apart of it for 9 years now… this just means officially forever???? I love you both more than words will ever describe @joshtapper.’

Amy’s followers sent the newlyweds congratulatory messages, including @katieconnolly8, who wrote: ‘You look fabulous ???? what wonderful photos, look like you all had an amazing time.’

Echoing their sentiment, @sharyn_b_ shared: ‘Congratulations to the new bride and groom. You all look beautiful xx❤️.’

@joerubs said: ‘Such an amazing evening. You looked fabulously stunning x.’

@grace_hollis added: ‘Awwww love all of these! So stunning.’

Josh announced he had proposed to Hannah last March and subsequently threw a celebratory party with their family.

It has been a busy 12 months for the former TV star as he also ran to be the MP for Hertsmere in Hertfordshire after being selected as a Labour parliamentary candidate.

However, Josh was defeated by former Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden, 46, who has been the constituency’s MP continuously since 2015.

He had, however, been bookmakers William Hill’s favourite to be elected, with his odds at 5/2.

Before his election campaign, Josh had been eyeing up Whitehall for several years and left Gogglebox in 2018 because he had been offered a Cabinet Office job.

At the time he told The Mirror that the door had been left open for him to return, but that ‘the focus is now very much on my job.’

Speaking of his first day on the job, he said: ‘It was really surreal walking through that front door of Number 10.

‘After a few seconds you completely forget where you are…in the heart of Government.’

Josh seemed to have caught the political bug after the two-year job and stood as a Labour candidate in the seat of Chipping Barnet several years later.

Launching his campaign in 2022, he cited ‘reversing Tory neglect on our green spaces’ and ‘pioneering institutional change of mental health support’ among his aims.

Gogglebox is available to stream on Channel 4.
