Iconic popstar forced to cancel show because of ‘safety concerns’ after Grammy win

Global superstar Shakira has been forced to cancel her concert in Medellin, Colombia, due to safetry concerns.
Organizers announced on Friday that a stage roof malfunction at the venue posed a potential safety hazard.
The cancellation is among several adjustments to her extensive world tour schedule.
Currently on her first global tour in seven years, Shakira has nearly 50 performances lined up across Latin America through June, before continuing her journey across North America with concerts in the United States and Canada.
According to event organizer Paramo Presenta, the issue arose during preparations for the February 24 show at Medellin’s Atanasio Girardot Stadium.
‘While assembling the stage, the roof structure installed by a local production company sustained damage that could compromise the safety of the artist and attendees,’ the company explained in a social media post.

This setback follows another recent tour adjustment, as the Colombian singer had to cancel a performance in Peru due to a hospitalization last week for an abdominal condition.
The tour, titled Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore), launched earlier this month in Rio de Janeiro, just days after Shakira received a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album.

Shakira, who has sold over 90 million records worldwide, remains one of the most influential Latin artists of all time.
She is still scheduled to perform back-to-back shows in Bogotá on February 28 and 29, according to her official tour itinerary.
