Jason Isaacs, who starred as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise, revealed while on The One Show that he didn’t really enjoy the role.

It was announced today that John Lithgow has revealed he has been cast as Albus Dumbledore in the HBO Harry Potter series after weeks of speculation.

As excitement mounts for the reboot of the franchise, Jason, 61, has admitted that it wasn’t all fun and games on the set of the original film series.

‘It’s a terrible confession to make, they weren’t that much fun to make. It’s quite boring, making big special effects films,’ he told hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp as well as fellow guests Diversity.

Jason then quickly added that he still has a lot of love for the franchise and the joy came after the filming.

‘However, the pleasures all come afterwards. I see and meet people for whom their lives were changed by it, and still people are reading it and sharing it with their children. Some people say their lives were saved by it and I believe it.

‘Something happened when those ingredients came together and the souffle rose that created just love around the world and a sense of inclusion,’ he concluded.

The actor appeared in six of the eight Harry Potter films as the villainous Death Eater and father to Draco Malfoy, Lucius Malfoy.

While on the show the actor spoke about his new role as wealthy guest Timothy Ratliff, in the third season of The White Lotus.

This season follows the show’s familiar set-up with elite holidaymakers arriving at The White Lotus wellness spa and hotel, this time in Thailand.

With the Four Seasons and Anantara Mai Khao Villas posing at the hotel, you would think the cast were living in luxury.

Filming took seven months, with the cast staying in the hotels ‘on top of each other’ for that entire time.

‘Nobody should be that jealous of me, it wasn’t a holiday,’ Jason shared during the interview.

He continued: ’40 men and women, crammed into a villa with the air conditioning off. It’s over 100 degrees (45 Celcius).

‘We’re all covered in makeup and there’s lights and you’re there all day. It’s quite gamey is what I’m saying.’

Alex looked slightly horrified at the Harry Potter legend’s description as she and Roman laughed and repeated: ‘Gamey?’

‘Good descriptive,’ she added, still chuckling.

Jason has explained that the cast was ‘in each others’ pockets’ for much of the seven months.

‘Most people got on with each other, most of the time,’ he joked. ‘But there were alliances formed and broken.

‘There’s an off-screen White Lotus as much as there’s an on-screen White Lotus, just with hopefully fewer body bags.’

Jason stars as the patriarch of an incredibly wealthy family, joined on the holiday by stand-offish wife Victoria, played by Parker Posey.

Their children are finance bro Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger), shy high schooler Lochlan (Sam Nivola) and earnest college student Piper (Sarah Catherine Cook).

Fans have already been horrified by a scene between Saxon and Lochlan, who are sharing a bedroom.

The sex-obsessed older brother ponders over his sister Piper’s virginity, arriving at the conclusion she has never had sex despite being ‘hot.’

After the toe-curling remark, Saxon heads to the bathroom and strips off in full view of his younger brother, who does not break his gaze until the door is shut.

Uncomfortable viewing, to say the least, and it’s probably only going to get worse from here as the season unfolds.

The White Lotus is available to stream on Now.
