Jesy Nelson ‘makes sweet family tribute’ with unique baby name after welcoming twins

It seems Jesy Nelson has given a sweet nod to a close family member with the name of one of her baby girls.

Earlier today, the pop star announced the birth of twin daughters with an emotional Instagram post.

The former Little Mix singer, 33, took to social media to confirm she had welcomed her first babies with boyfriend Zion Foster, 26, at 31 weeks, posting snaps of the newborns cuddling up to mum and dad in hospital.

Revealing their names, she penned the caption: ‘So… Our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus 5 days.

‘It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We’ve never felt more in love. Everybody meet Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster.’

The Power hitmaker also shared that the babies were born on Thursday, May 15.

Following Jesy and Zion’s adorable arrivals, a source told Metro that Ocean’s middle name is likely to be a tribute to Jesy’s sister.

This comes as fans speculate whether the ‘Jade’ moniker was in reference to fellow Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall, but that doesn’t look to be the case.

Jesy has been open about her complicated pregnancy online and documented her journey after explaining that they were ‘living off one placenta’ due to pre-stage TTTS (twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome).

She underwent emergency surgery and confirmed the TTTS had ‘cleared up’.

‘We just wanted to thank you so much for all your supportive, beautiful messages. You guys have been so lovely; we’ve seen all of your lovely messages and stories, and it’s really helped us keep going,’ she said at the time.

The English singer first announced she was pregnant in January.

Earlier in May, just 10 days before she gave birth, the music artist took to her TikTok to share an update on how she was doing as she asked for advice on what colour to dye her hair when she left the hospital.

Elsewhere, she declared Zion, whom she has been dating since January 2022, the ‘most amazing daddy’ when he took part in the London Marathon to raise money for the Twins Trust charity.

‘Words will never be enough to let you know how proud I am of you. The most amazing human and daddy we love you baby ???????????????????? you smashed the London Marathon!!!’, Jesy wrote on Instagram that weekend.

Now, congratulatory messages have flocked in from friends, family, and fans.

January 12: The Little Miz singer announces she is pregnant with twins.

January 24: In a social media Q&A, Jesy revealed both her and Zion were ‘very, very shocked’ by the unplanned pregnancy but that she ‘felt instantly happy as soon as she that she was’.

March 5: After a long social media absence, Jesy took to Instagram to explain they were told their twin babies ‘could die’ from complications after discovering they share a placenta, known as mono/di twins.

A few days later, she confirmed plans to undergo emergency surgery.

March 31: Jesy returned to Instagram to confirm that the TTTS has ‘cleared up’ after a ‘successful operation’ with plans to remain in hospital to remain monitored.

May 15: Jesy Nelson gives birth to twin baby girls, Ocean and Story, and announced the news to fans a few days later on May 18, confirming they are ‘healthy’ and ‘fighting strong’.

‘Congratulations to you all, they are perfection ????????????’, wrote Shaughna Phillips.

TikToker Luke Hamnett said: ‘Congratulations my lovely ❤️’.

‘Congratulations my lovely,’ lukehamett echoed.

‘Awww amazing ! Congrats to you all ❤️❤️’, wrote Duncan James.

Jesy’s ex-boyfriend, Chris Hughes, also sent his well wishes, as the two remain on good terms after splitting. He commented: ‘Congrats both of you, stunning ????’

The happy news comes after her estranged bandmate, Perrie Edwards, spoke about the pain of Jesy’s departure from Little Mix five years ago, for which she cited mental health struggles at the time.

Jesy previously made no secret of the tough time she had being in the band after rising to fame on The X Factor in 2011, frequently admitting she felt ‘pressure’ being compared to three other women.

Speaking to Alison Hammond, mum-of-one Perrie explained: ‘We talk about it a lot, but I think in the moment we did everything we could, so some things just happen.

‘It is really sad; we haven’t spoken since she left.’

Little Mix went on a hiatus just a year later in 2021 to pursue solo projects, with multiple members also focusing on raising their young families.

Perrie, Leigh-Anne, and Jesy are all mums now, while they’re also forging successful pop careers, alongside Brit Award-winning soloist Jade.
