Katie Price is in full dog-mum mode as she takes her latest puppy for a walk after heavy criticism over her animals’ welfare.

Last month, the former glamour model revealed she had acquired a new pet – this time a cocker spaniel named Rookie.

She and her boyfriend JJ Slater, 32, took the tiny pup for a walk using a harness before stopping for some lunch on her break from her Easter panto production in Croydon.

When she first revealed Rookie at 10 weeks old, Katie, 46, was hit with huge backlash as animal charities begged her to stop owning pets.

This is due to her controversial history of seven animals dying in her care, including horses, dogs, and a chameleon.

PETA even offered the TV personality £5,000 to sign a legally binding document to stop her from owning any in the future.

Katie has not accepted the offer or addressed the petition signed by thousands to ban her from ownership.

Last year, she reportedly gave away her new puppy Tank after the backlash, having got him weeks after the death of German Shepherd, Blade.

Blade, who she got in 2019, died in June 2023 after being hit by a car, making him the seventh animal to die in her care.

Her daughter Princess’ dog, Rolo, was crushed after reportedly getting trapped in an electric armchair, having been given CBD oil for anxiety.

In 2017, one of her horses was killed by a car on the A24 after escaping from its field near the house.

The following year, Katie was ‘devastated’ after her German Shepherd, Queenie, was killed in a hit-and-run accident.

Another Alsatian, Sparkle, died in 2020 with a rather brutal message on Instagram, saying: ‘I’ve just woken up to realise that one of my dogs has been killed on the road.’

Two years later, Pomeranian Sharon was killed when, allegedly, she escaped, ran onto the road and was hit by a car with a source close to Katie telling The Sun this was ‘rotten luck’.

Katie also reportedly gave away one Alsatian named Bear after six months of ownership after he had three near death experiences – including running onto a dual carriageway,

There was also a pet hedgehog called Peggy, which was reportedly lost for two weeks after being purchased for Princess in 2019. It’s unknown where Peggy is now.

Junior’s pet chameleon Marvin died, allegedly of ‘a broken heart’ after he moved in with his dad – sources reported heating the tank was also an issue.

Her cat named Frog also had to be put to sleep in July last year after he developed an incurable neurological disease.

This comes after Katie’s debts were discharged last week (Picture: BACKGRID)

She does have four chihuahuas and in November, during the midst of her bankruptcy case, she brought home two sphynx cats – spending a total of £2,000 on the pair.

Katie owed more than £750,000 to HMRC in unpaid tax debts and was arrested in 2024 after skipping a bankruptcy hearing.

The debts were discharged last week – as was her 2019 bankruptcy case – with the TV star saying she was ‘so happy’.

‘While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned,’ PETA Vice President Elisa Allen wrote, in the letter shared by The Sun.

‘Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution.

PETA added that ‘things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under her supervision’.

In response to the open letter, a representative of Katie’s told MailOnline: ‘Kate has asked PETA many times to have a conversation with her directly, but instead they continue to play the narrative out in the media.

‘If they want to have a direct conversation with Katie they can get in touch.  Isn’t it a waste of charity money or have they got funds available to give out to celebrities, which should be going towards animals?’

In the face of the backlash, Katie appears to be determined to keep her pets and Rookie appeared to be healthy as he enjoyed a walk.
