She also revealed that her accent had been a problem for parts of her career, saying: ‘At the beginning of my career, yes. When I got pregnant with my daughter at the age of 30 I realised that either I worked on my accent or working here was going to be really complicated.
‘First because there were few Latin American characters and the few that were there were very stereotyped and on top of that I had already done them all.
‘I had to work on the accent to be able to ‘compete’ in the castings with the Spanish actresses.’
She added that after going to a speech therapist and working on her Spanish accent with her daughter, the course of her career ‘changed’.
‘Many more Spanish characters began to come to me. Now I feel very free with the accent,’ she said.
Medusa is available to watch on Netflix.
