New Line of Duty ‘confirmed’ as BBC star teases season seven
Mother of God!

A Line of Duty star has given the biggest clue so far that season seven is coming.
Christina Chong, who starred as DI Nicky Rogerson in the BBC drama, let slip that the cast have been pencilled in for later this year.
When asked about its return the 41-year-old also gave hope that her character will be back.
‘So I have been asked about a season. Is it seven? Yeah. Potentially, Nicola Rogerson will be back for season seven,’ she said at the Hollywood Saturn Awards according to The Mirror.
This comes after Adrian Dunbar, Supt Ted Hastings in the series, said Jed Mercurio was writing last year. ‘We haven’t got a script on the desk yet,’ he added.
Christina, who has also appeared in Black Mirror, Doctor Who, and 24: Live Another Day said that Line of Duty was personally life-changing for her.

Viewers were totally hooked for six series, and, at one point, the show, centred on anti-corruption unit AC-12, became the highest-rated series on BBC Two in 10 years.
The last episode of season six in 2021, which revealed the identity of mysterious antagonist ‘H’, was watched by an estimated 16.44 million people, one of the largest TV audiences recorded during the Covid pandemic.
Fans of the police thriller have since remained hopeful it could return, looking out for any clues that it’s in the works. Actors have gave plenty of hope for them to cling on to.
The BBC series ended in 2021 (Picture: BBC/World Productions/Steffan Hill/Geraint Williams)Martin Compston, who played DS Steve Arnott, shared at the end of 2023 that the cast’s group chat name was subtely adapted.
‘We have a chat group called “Line of Duty 6” and a while ago Jed changed the name of it to “Line of Duty 7”,’ he teased.
Speaking on his own comedy podcast, Restless Natives, Martin continued: ‘What I love about it is we have never spoken about it since.
‘We have had such a good run with it and a bit of you does go “Let’s walk away on a high”, but we all want to work together again because we are so close.’
Meanwhile, Vicky McClure who featured as DC Kate Fleming, previously said she is ‘game’ for a reboot.
‘I speak to the lads all the time and we’d love to, we’re all game. I think it’s just a case of now – Martin, I think he’s in about nine shows or something. He’s busy [but] I’m sure we’ll get there,’ she shared.
It is said the core group met up with Jed in 2024 and discussed aligning their schedules with the hopes 2026 would be the year of new episodes.
The BBC are not commenting on the reports.
Line of Duty is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
