Pete Wicks ‘stirs the pot’ with Louis Tomlinson and Sam Thompson ‘rivalry’

Pete Wicks has hilariously poked fun at Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson’s ‘rivalry’.

Sam, 32, and his former girlfriend, Zara McDermott, 28, split at the end of 2024 after a five-year-long relationship.

Although both Zara and Sam have moved on and have been snapped dating new people, Sam is set to have an awkward run-in that involves his ex’s new partner, One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.

Both Sam and Louis are set to partake in Soccer Aid on June 15, and will play on the same celebrity team for England in the charity event.

Poking fun at his friend’s predicament, Pete Wicks mocked Sam mercilessly as he joked that his friend might need some support on the team.

‘How do you feel about the lineup? Do you think you have a strong team? Any kind of people in there that you’re looking forward to playing with?’

Sam laughed but avoided the bait and answered that he couldn’t wait to play with the likes of Tom Grennan, Wayne Rooney and Tyson Fury, who is the manager of the match.

‘Make sure you get him on side though,’ Pete said about Tyson. ‘Because you may need him in your corner. In case you fall out with anyone – not that you will – but just in case there’s any rivalries or anything.

‘You know you have to train together and it’s a lot and you know when you’re kind of in close quarters with someone like that, all sorts get brought up.’

Sam just smiled and laughed as he could see what Pete was expertly hinting at – without actually mentioning any names.

Fans also saw what Pete was hinting at and commented on the hilarious interaction in the comment section.

‘Pete this is only going in one direction,’ joked sophier25rr.

Many joked that, seeing as Sam and Louis are both such nice people, they are actually more likely to become friends than rivals on the pitch.

‘I feel like Sam and Louis will become friends lol,’ added ghostcookies1906.

In March, Louis, 33, and Zara sparked romance rumours when they were spotted on a romantic getaway in Suffolk.

The pair were seen together just three months after Zara’s split from Sam Thompson, but he now seems to be dating another Love Island star – Sami Elishi, 25.

This jokey rivalry conversation comes just after Louis and Zara went Instagram official with a rare heartfelt comment.

This week, she shared photos of her sitting smiling at an editing suite.

‘In the edit for my new series all about Thailand. I’m so unbelievably excited about this one. I can’t believe I’ve been making documentaries for 5 years now… every year that goes by I feel my confidence in front of the camera, in my producing (and in myself!!) growing so much,’ she wrote.

‘I feel really proud of this, of our amazing team for creating such a special series with so much depth to it, exploring some pretty serious topics but also capturing the fun too. I learnt SO much making this programme.

Soon after Louis commented, ‘Proud of you,’ confirming their romance.
