Piers Morgan has announced his shock return to Good Morning Britain nearly four years after he stormed off.

The broadcaster, 59, will be join his former co-host Susanna Reid, 54, and Ed Balls, 58, as a guest on the ITV news show from 8.15 am tomorrow.

Morgan did not reveal any further details about his appearance but said on X: @piersmorgan: ‘BREAKING: It’s been nearly 4yrs (1,453 days to be precise!) since I departed.

‘@GMB⁩ rather hastily… but tomorrow morning, for the first time, I’m going back. I’ll be on with ⁦@susannareid100⁩ & ⁦ @edballs⁩ at 8.15am.’

Morgan has not appeared on GMB in person since 2021 when he dramatically walked off during a row with Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle.

Beresford, 44, challenged Morgan after he expressed his disbelief over her claim that she suffered from suicidal thoughts in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Celebrity Race Across The World star said: ‘I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle; you’ve made that so clear a number of times on this programme. I understand that you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off.

‘She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has but yet you continue to trash her.’

In response, Morgan retorted while storming off the set: ‘I’m done with this. Sorry. You can trash me, mate, but not on my own show. See you later, can’t do this.’

The same day, the journalist announced he had quit Good Morning Britain after tens of thousands of people complained to Ofcom.

Six months later, Ofcom ruled that Morgan was entitled to share his opinion, saying in a ruling that was 97 pages long that while his comments were ‘potentially harmful and offensive’, GMB did not breach the broadcasting code.

The following year, Morgan insisted that he didn’t want to leave the long-running ITV show but ruled out a return over the fallout concerning the Duchess of Sussex.

In a previous interview with The Mirror, Reid revealed she had maintained a friendship with Morgan following his exit and said he made her a ‘better’ broadcaster.

‘I am still friends with Piers. We were doing a story about potholes last week. I got a text from Piers saying: “You are currently filming in the car park next to my home in Sussex. I can tell you personally what the potholes are like.” So he still watches and tells me what he thinks,’ she said.

‘And, look, we are personally still very connected. He played a massive part in our show’s success. I’ve got a huge amount to thank him for. He made me a better broadcaster.

‘He toughened me up. I didn’t just go on air and spar with the guests, I sparred with Piers.’

After leaving GMB, Morgan was hired by TalkTV but quit two years later to focus on his YouTube channel, Uncensored, stating that he no longer wanted to be a ‘slave to the schedule’ and wanted to remove the ‘unnecessary straitjacket’ of TV.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX.
