Police have dropped the investigation into Gary Barlow’s £6,000,000 mansion after it was targeted by thieves.

While Gary, 54, and Take That sang on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, a gang raided the property under the cover of night.

It’s unclear if they took anything or if the These Days hitmaker’s family were at home at the time.

According to The Sun, Thames Valley Police have decided not to pursue the investigation further.

A source said that the gang involved in the raid may have fled abroad, saying: ‘There’s always the fear that the gangs flee the UK after raids, which makes the cops’ job even harder.’

The gates to the Grade II-listed home, which was bought by Gary for £2.3million in 2007, were said to have been forced open, with passersby telling the publication they were left damaged.

A neighbour said: ‘The police have been round to ask me about what happened, but I wasn’t aware of anything. I noticed the gates were flapping open.

‘It’s a rather secluded place. It’s a warning to us all’.

It is not known whether Gary’s wife, Dawn, whom he married in 2000, was at home.

The couple shares two children – Daniel and Emily – but, again, it is unclear whether they were inside the home at the time of the break-in.

Police were said to be taking pictures of the scene, with the house gates replaced shortly after.

He has not addressed the attempted break-in but was said to be unaware of it until the next day when the police were informed.

Gary, Howard Donald and Mark Owen were on Ant and Dec’s popular show on April 6 to sing hit song Shine for the penultimate episode.

With few leads to follow, the police are said to be asking for information or witnesses to come forward.

Metro has reached out to Gary’s reps for comment.
