Alan Cumming has shed light on how intense things became while filming The Traitors US, explaining that things got ‘very harsh’ between the cast.

The James Bond actor, 60, hosts the American version of the hit UK gameshow, which currently airs on Peacock on Thursdays.

Fans have been glued to their screens throughout season three, with Rob ‘Boston Rob’ Mariano, Ciara Miller, Sam Asghari, Carolyn Wiger and Danielle Reyes finding themselves at the center of the drama.

Spilling the beans on those savage roundtables, the presenter shared that he feared he would have to jump in himself and break things up.

‘There were bits in the roundtables that I actually thought I was going to have to break up a fight,’ he told People Magazine, vowing that ‘it got even more harsh than what you see.

‘Boston Rob and Bob the Drag Queen, that got even more vicious. And between Carolyn and Danielle, some stuff, I don’t know if it’s happened already, I’ve seen a bit of it, but there’s more to come.

‘It’s harsh. It’s harsh to be in the room because you feel the energy, and everyone takes it so personally.’

‘They’re in this bubble. They have nothing else to think about,’ he added. ‘And it’s called The Traitors, but they start thinking like that. They’ve got no touchstone and nothing to compare it to, and their whole life is that for rest of this week.’

This season of the gameshow has included jaw-dropping callouts, with every single Traitor finding themselves being targeted by the others in the turret – leading to vicious scenes.

After Boston Rob led the charge to get fellow Traitor Bob The Drag Queen banished, the Survivor star attracted far too much attention and was brutally voted out last week.

Carolyn and Danielle are the last two Traitors remaining but, following a string of battles, it is unclear whether they will get back on one side before the finale.

Despite being eliminated, Boston Rob insisted that he has ‘no issues’ with his fellow castmates going forward.

‘I went in there with the intention of putting up a good fight and making a good case for myself,’ he told Us Weekly of his exit. ‘I really didn’t know what direction I was going to go until I got there.

‘I stand by what I did. But maybe I wouldn’t have tried to direct the vote to [Bob the Drag Queen] right away, but I did. As soon as I said it, I couldn’t unsay it.

‘I’m the one that steered it back to Bob because it was going that way and I could have kept my mouth shut and it would’ve went that way.

‘I feel like once I opened that can of worms, I couldn’t put them back in. Maybe I wouldn’t have said it right away but I perceived the threat as imminent. The way I play these games, you are with me or you’re against me so as soon as I see it, I got to kill you.’

The Traitors airs on Peacock on Thursdays, and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
