Last week over on streaming service titan Netflix, the world enjoyed another eclectic mix of reality TV shows, brand new dramas, returning favourites and even a giant sporting event. From high-stakes crime and romance to teen dramas and bruising bouts in the ring, viewers turned up for a little of everything. Here are the 10 most watched TV shows over on the world’s most popular streamer from last week. Perhaps you can find some inspiration for your next binge-watch… (Picture: Netflix) 10. Hostage – 3,000,000 views This British political drama stars Doctor Foster’s Suranne Jones as the UK PM who gets caught between political duty and family loyalty when she’s forced to balance her country’s safety with protecting her loved ones. There’s plenty of tension and sharp performances all round here. And although not all critics are unanimous, many have applauded Hostage’s suspense and character work. With around 3,000,000 views last week it’s just about clinging hold of its watercooler status (Picture: Netflix) 9. Two Graves – 3,100,000 views This Spanish limited thriller (original title: ‘Dos Tumbas’) centres on Isabel, a grandmother whose granddaughter and her friend go missing. When the official search stalls, Isabel takes matters into her own hands. It’s dark, relentless and has plenty of emotional rawness at its core. Stars of the piece include the likes of Kiti Mánver, Álvaro Morte, Hovik Keuchkerian and up-and-comer Zoé Arnao. The show’s short run (three episodes) still manages to pack in a whole lot of excitement. And a satisfying finale where revenge is served up in a rather uncompromising – if still quite delicious – manner (Picture: Netflix) 8. Though, understandably, season two has grabbed most of the recent attention, the debut run of this wildly successful Addams Family spin-off remains popular, showing real staying power. This dark teen supernatural comedy provided its star Jenna Ortega with a breakout role as the creepy family’s infamously morose daughter. Its stylised visuals, quirky supporting cast and gothic humour have proven massive for Netflix. Managing to be spooky, funny and able to provide genuine drama and unique aesthetic, there’s a reason that Wednesday is one of Netflix’s biggest ever hits (Picture: Netflix) 7. The Dead Girls – 3,900,000 views This pitch black dark Spanish language drama offers up horror, suspense and plenty of often uncomfortable reflections on society’s margins. All while telling the mostly true story of sisters who ran a brutal brothel in 1960’s Mexico. It’s a chilling tale, but one that’s not only proving popular with global audiences, but with critics alike. While not as high-profile as some other titles in this top 10, ‘Las Muertas’ has become a word-of-mouth pick for viewers who like tension, dread and morally ambiguous characters caught up in genuinely disturbing criminal conspiracies (Picture: Netflix) 6. Love Con Revenge – 4,100,000 views Online romance scams can wreck lives, but Love Con Revenge shows what happens when victims fight back. The new docuseries follows people rebuilding after being conned, guided by Cecilie Fjellhøy – best known as the woman who exposed The Tinder Swindler – and private investigator Brianne Joseph. Their cases reveal not only how scams unfold but also how resilience and teamwork can help survivors reclaim control. Over four million people watched Love Con Revenge last week, making it something of a non-drama standout on Netflix’s global chart (Picture: Netflix) 5. My Life With the Walter Boys: Season 2 – 5,200,000 views Fans are over the moon that there’s now more of the Walter family dynamics to gorge on. With all the relationship drama, messiness of love, family obligations and small town gossip that goes along with it. It’s emotionally driven and earnest, so it’s not a show for everyone. But it is a show for a lot of folk. Season two seems to have built on word of mouth from the first series too. With 5,200,000 views last week alone, it shows that these young adult dramas can pull some very grown-up numbers indeed (Picture: Netflix) 4. Bon Appétit, Your Majesty – 6,800,000 views This Korean romantic drama with a twist finds its chef heroine transported back into the past – some 500 years earlier, in fact – and needing to use cooking and modern sensibilities to win the favour of a tyrannical king in a royal court. Political intrigue, culture shock, costumes and set design combine to make this K-drama a superior piece of work. Fans are loving its unique recipe: there’s fantasy, cuisine, history and – of c

Political intrigue, culture shock, costumes and set design combine to make this K-drama a superior piece of work. Fans are loving its unique recipe: there’s fantasy, cuisine, history and – of course – a generous portion of romance sprinkled on top (Picture: Netflix) 3. Beauty in Black: Season 2 – 8,700,000 views The second season of the hugely popular US drama series Beauty in Black keeps up the tone, style and themes that the show firmly established in its maiden run. Created by Tyler Perry, this show is not unlike The Dead Girls in that it’s all about a family of strong women caught up in a trafficking operation. In season two Kimmie, who got caught up in the wealthy Bellaire family’s various enterprises, is now serving as COO of their cosmetics empire. And she’s on a revenge mission to take down the people who kidnapped her sister… (Picture: Netflix) 2. Wednesday: Season 2 – 15,000,000 views Returning to the screen, Wednesday’s second season leans into the mythology of the Addams Family with Jenna Ortega once again leading the pack. This time out even darker mysteries tied to the Addams family lore spill out. It’s one of the biggest hits globally for Netflix right now, with 15,000,000 views being clocked up just last week. The challenge is keeping up the weirdness people loved in season one while also pushing forward with new plot threads and deeper back story. It’s a challenge that’s met and mastered with apparent ease. The latest run is a monster hit (Picture: Netflix) 1. Canelo Álvarez vs. Terence Crawford – A peak of 17,700,000 views At the top of the heap from the past week is a live sporting spectacle – the boxing bout between Mexico’s Canelo Álvarez and the US fighter Terence Crawford. Peak viewership reached 17,700,000. It’s good news for Netflix, who have put a lot of time and money into streaming live sporting events recently. So the success of this fight – a barnstorming 12 rounder decided in Crawford’s favour on points – should surely see a whole slew of live sports coming to the streamer (Picture: Netflix)
