Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus is leaving no stone unturned in his new memoir, including the time his ‘hero’ tried to make out with him at a party.

He exposed one ‘awful date’ with Melissa Joan Hart in the book, titled Fahrenheit-182, and now he’s revealed all with The Cure’s Robert Smith.

This romance was even more fleeting than the last as Mark, 53, rejected the smooch from his idol, which he now sorely regrets.

Speaking to US Weekly, the What’s My Name Again hitmaker shared the encounter happened as he was going to leave an after party with his wife.

Everyone was drinking and ‘having fun’, and the Boys Don’t Cry hitmaker, 65, was apparently ‘feeling saucy’.

Mark shared: ‘He tries to kiss me at a party and I’m like, “I should have done that. Why not?” It’s a much better story than he tried to kiss me and it was awkward. It would’ve been rad to be like, “Yeah, made out with my hero”.’

Bizarrely, nobody other than Mark, his wife, and some of the Blink-182 crew saw the almost-kiss.

Mark, who was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, laughed: ‘I was more flabbergasted that nobody else saw it.’

Robert has been married since 1988 to eccentric wife Mary, with the pair initially meeting in drama class when they were 14.

Meanwhile, Mark met his wife Skye Everly in the late 90s, tying the knot in 2000 and now share a son, Jack.

The rockers have never discussed the would-be kiss, although Mark acknowledged he should have given Robert a heads up about it featuring in the book.

Blink-182 rose to fame in the late 90s after a breakthrough album (Picture: Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images for Coachella)

‘I should have called him or given some kind of warning or something, but I don’t know — how do you have that conversation? “Hey, remember when you tried to make out with me?” Because we’ve never addressed it,’ he said.

‘I’ve seen him several times since, and it’s been totally cool, and nobody’s talked about it.’

Farenheit-182 details much of Mark’s life in the early days of the band, which formed in 1992 and by 2000 had found superstardom.

Mark, alongside bandmates Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge, toured and released two albums before hitting the mainstream with 1999’s Enema of the State.

The record spawned multiple hit songs and was followed up by Take Off Your Pants and Jacket two years later, to further acclaim.

While Travis may be the most well-known of the bandmates, thanks to his 00s reality show and wife Kourtney Kardashian, Mark is the only one who has been with Blink the whole time.

Tom left the group twice, once in 2005 — which sparked a four-year hiatus for the band — and then again in 2015, eventually returning in 2022.

Meanwhile, Travis actually joined in 1998 after founding drummer Scott Raynor was dismissed due to personal issues and alcohol addiction.
