More than 20 years ago, when Brody won his first Academy Award for his leading role in the 2002 drama The Pianist.
When he took to the stage to receive the accolade, he planted a surprise kiss on host Berry in a moment that proved controversial at the event.
Twenty-two years later, the actor won best actor once more, this time for his role in Brady Corbet’s epic The Brutalist, and he marked the occasion once more with a playful smooch with Berry on the red carpet.
Recreating the famous moment, Berry gave Brody’s girlfriend Chapman, who he began dating in 2020, some pre-warning before shocking the actor with an impromptu kiss.
‘I’m sorry, Georgina, but I’ve gotta do it’, she said after embracing Brody. After the kiss, she said: ‘He’s nominated this year. He deserved that.’

‘That’s… just weird. like it’s not even about Understanding and Professionalism. This is just disrespect,’ Mr Nomad wrote on X.
Hannahowo_usa added: ‘Being the spouse of an actor takes serious strength. Like, how are you just clapping while Halle Berry kisses your man right in front of you? Lmao, I would’ve ruined the whole night.’
Yetaboi thought: ‘Doing this infront of your wife is insane,’ while Steve Kreit dubbed it ‘messed up.’
