A gripping new Netflix drama has racked up 10,200,000 hours viewed in just one week.

Indian series Dabba Cartel released globally on the streaming platform on February 28, and has already climbed its way into the top 10 charts.

It follows five women setting up their own drug empire after the pharmaceutical company they work for faces a scandal involving an unregulated opioid and the government’s drug standard control organisation.

Seeing the business’ loss as their own gain, they take the chance for a new opportunity and use their tiffin meal delivery service (also known as dabba) to start selling drugs.

As a domestic worker and chef join a worker tied to a drug cartel and a broker, they’re forced to overcome their differences to make their new underground business work.

A week since its release, the series has hit the fourth spot in Netflix’s global top 10 non-English shows list, with 1,800,000 views.

The fictional story, set in Thane, Mumbai, stars an A-list Bollywood cast including Shabana Azmi, Jyotika, Shalini Pandey, Nimisha Sajayan, Anjali Anand and Sai Tamhankar.

The synopsis for the seven-part series, which can be dubbed into English, Spanish, Polish and Thai, teases: ‘When an investigation into a pharma company hits close to home, five women launch a tiffin service with a secret ingredient.’

Despite impressive audience reviews, Dabba Cartel only has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 67%, but has been branded ‘gripping’ and ‘binge-worthy’ by fans.
