Sophia Hutchins, Caitlyn Jenner’s longtime friend and manager, has died at the age of 29 in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident.

Hutchins died on Wednesday morning in Malibu, near Caitlyn’s home, TMZ first reported, citing law enforcement and family sources. People have also confirmed the news.

The I Am Cait star was riding an ATV when she struck the bumper of a moving car, causing her to leave the road and fall into a ‘350 feet ravine’, the US outlets report.

Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene while two people in the car were not injured. It is unknown whether anyone else was injured in the collision.

Since they met in 2015 through their hair stylist when Caitlyn announced her transition, Hutchins has been by the former Olympian’s side, including when she came out of the I’m A Celebrity…. Get Me Out Of Here jungle in 2020.

Hutchins, who was the CEO of a now-defunct beauty brand, was just starting her own transition at the time they met, and was thought to have been inspired by Caitlyn.

She was hired as the former Olympic champion’s business manager, but their bond was deeper than that.

Hutchins went on to appear in multiple episodes of her E! reality series I Am Cait, and became friends with the Jenner clan, having attended Kylie Jenner’s 18th birthday party in 2018. She’s also appeared on Keeping Up With The Kardashians on multiple occasions.

Caitlyn also made Hutchins CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation, a non-profit organisation that ‘promotes equality and combats discrimination’ against transgender people.

‘We have so much in common; we see the world so similarly and we both are such a good match for each because we challenge each other,’ Hutchins once said of their relationship in an interview with The Hidden Truth with Jim Breslo.

‘She challenges me in so many ways, has allowed me to grow in so many ways and I hope I challenge her to grow and I think because we share so many of the same passions and views, it’s just a great match, a great partnership.’

Born on April 1, 1996 in Washington, Hutchins graduated from Pepperdine University in 2019 with an economics and finance degree.

It was incorrectly rumoured that Hutchins and Caitlyn were romantically linked, but both went on to reveal that was never the case.

Speaking with podcast The Hidden Truth in October 2018, Hutchins opened up about her relationship with Caitlyn.

‘We’re partners in everything we do, we’re inseparable, we’re business partners, we live together, we share a dog, we share family, we share a life together,’ she said.

Caitlyn previously praised Hutchins’ as her ‘best friend, family and confidant’, adding: ‘She is one of the top minds in her field. Her value in my life is undeniable. The sky is the limit with her entrepreneurial spirit.’
