Details have emerged around Activision’s plans for next year’s Call Of Duty, and it might be taking on a very different setting.
Activision has yet to announce this year’s Call Of Duty (although it’s widely rumoured to be a sequel to Black Ops 2), but we already have some details around the following entry in 2026.
Earlier this year, rumours claimed next year’s Call Of Duty will be Modern Warfare 4. It was said to be in development at Infinity Ward for the next gen Xbox console, with no version planned for current gen consoles – which seemed… unlikely.
The same leaker who released those details has now shared more information about the sequel, namely that it will heavily involve Korea in some capacity.
According to well known Call Of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope on X, Call Of Duty 2026 is currently titled ‘Modern Warfare 사’, with the latter being Korean for ‘4’.
They state the game’s campaign will feature both South Korea and North Korea in ‘a significant role’, adding that Task Force 141, the SAS, and the Republic of Korea Army will be the three main factions you play as to ‘take down Makarov and Konni Group who are doing false flag operations to start a third world war’.

Beyond the story, the insider claims the sequel is ‘planned to feature some futuristic tech/weapons’ but that it will ‘stay mostly modern’.
While it’s best to take this with a pinch of salt, a Korean setting would be an interesting swerve for the series – even if Call Of Duty isn’t exactly known for its thoughtful or mature storytelling.
Infinity Ward’s last title in the series was 2022’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which was based in Mexico and fictional Asia-inspired locations like the United Republic Of Adal.
Sledgehammer Games is expected to be the developer on this year’s entry, which is rumoured to be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, with remastered maps and returning mechanics.
Activision is expected to announce this year’s Call Of Duty during the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 8, which will also feature The Outer Worlds 2. The showcase begins at 6pm BST in the UK.
