Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has revealed a terrifying private jet incident with fans that could’ve ended very differently.

‘Last night, we had some issues with the plane,’ he began in a video shared on social media this afternoon.

He explained that he was due to be in Houston, Texas, right now for the opening weekend of the United Football League’s second season.

Instead, the 52-year-old is home in Hawaii.

‘About 35-40 minutes into the flight, the pilot comes back to me; he gets down on one knee, and he faces me, face-to-face, and it’s just me on the plane, me and the crew, and he says, “Mr Johnson, I’m sorry to inform you that we cannot continue to fly over the ocean”.’

The pilot declared they had a ‘problem,’ meaning the plane had to be turned around and land back in Hawaii.

He then gave the WWE star his ‘word’ that he would land ‘safely on the island’.

‘I so appreciate his demeanour; his name was Captain David. I appreciate his demeanour in that moment, and he said it was a hydraulics issue with the overheating.

‘He said there are some issues we can work out while we’re in the air, but there are some issues we’re not gonna take a chance, especially over the ocean.’

Stating that he is no stranger to turbulent flights, Johnson admitted that he has been forced to confront his mortality in the past, where ‘crazy’ in-flight situations make him ask, ‘Is this how I check out?’

Thankfully, all was ok, and the actor and his crew were able to land unharmed.

However, his latest ordeal encouraged Johnson to reflect, as he added in his video: ‘When you’re back there alone with just your drink, and you’re thinking about this, you’ve got everything crossed, hoping you’ll make it back safely.

‘You start to realise really quickly the s**t that’s really important in life. Then you realise the s**t that doesn’t matter that you’ve been worrying about. I had one of those moments last night.

‘Bottom line is, I’m grateful to be back on the ground, grateful to be back home in Hawaii.’

‘I appreciate God, the universe… I took this as a sign from God and the universe. I wish though I was there in Houston, Texas,’ he concluded.

In his post on X, Johnson added that he is ‘super bummed’ to have missed out on his trip, but he is ‘so grateful’ to be alive.

‘So sorry to our @TheUFL fans, players, coaches, staff and our teams at @FOXSports @espn I’m not there,’ he penned.

‘Let’s have a great season 2 opening weekend, have fun, and ball out.’

Johnson has an estimated worth of $800million (£618.3m) and enjoys a lavish lifestyle with the wealth he’s accumulated since he began wrestling.

The Moana star owns a Gulfstream G650, a luxurious and high-performance jet, which is said to cost around $65million (£50.2m).
