Freddy Brazier has explained how he was sectioned after getting addicted to drugs as a 12-year-old.

In recent months the 20-year-old – who is the son of TV presenter Jeff Brazier and the late Big Brother star Jade Goody and younger brother of EastEnders actor Bobby, 22 – has been at the centre of a battle between his dad and maternal grandmother Jackiey Budden.

Over the years, Jeff and Jackiey have repeatedly come to blows publicly, with the situation between them becoming so tense that she lost contact with her grandsons for several years.

In March, Jeff, 45, also launched a legal bid to prevent Freddy from seeing Jackiey due to concerns over ‘keeping his son safe’, but dropped the action earlier this month.

After speaking about his close relationship with his grandmother in the past, Freddy has now claimed it was Jackiey who got him hooked on drugs before he was even a teenager.

Speaking on his new A Load of Old Cobblers podcast, Freddy said that although he didn’t try drugs for the first time with his maternal grandmother, she was ‘definitely the person’ who got him addicted.

‘No, it wasn’t with my Nan [the first time] although my Nan is definitely the person who got me hooked. It’s one of those things, I was 12,’ he said.

‘I’ve been smoking since I was 12, I’ve been to rehab, I’ve been sectioned, I’ve had manic episodes, I’ve been sectioned. There’s been a real journey and it’s been a tough one.’

Freddy went on to claim that he spent years terrified his grandmother would take her own life if he didn’t ‘prioritise’ their relationship.

‘I feel like if I didn’t prioritise the relationship with my mum’s mum Jackiey, and I didn’t feel like I had to be around for her, I was scared that if I wasn’t, she’d kill herself,’ he said in a preview of the podcast, which is released on September 1.

‘And I had that in my head for so long to the point where I pushed my dad away and I would stay at my nan’s for months, go on mad ones.’

His comments come a few months after they were spotted ‘smoking a joint together’ near Jackiey’s home in Bermondsey, south London.

In June, The Sun published photos that showed the pair ‘smoking marijuana together’.

‘These pictures show exactly why Jeff is so worried about his son,’ a source told the publication.

‘Jackiey’s influence over Freddy is harmful to his overall well-being. It’s very sad that a grandmother would want to encourage her grandson to do something that could potentially be so damaging.’

That same month Freddy revealed he’d been smoking from a young age and shared plans to go to rehab.

‘I’ve been smoking from the age of 12 and it’s time to stop it was a bad coping mechanism that turnt into an addiction something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and somewhat ok,’ he said.

However, he then changed his mind and said he needed a boy’s holiday instead.

Not long after his older brother Bobby addressed his brother’s behaviour and told The Sun: ‘Freddy’s very sensitive and wants to please. And when he grows up a little bit that will serve him well.’

‘There are things I don’t like about him and there are things about me he doesn’t like. Freddy will be OK, I don’t know if he looks up to me, but I look up to him in many ways, but he’s a good boy.’

Freddy was just four years old when his mum died aged 27 of cervical cancer.
