Netflix viewers have been urged to binge an ‘intense’ new series that has already racked up 5,300,000 views, just days after its release.

The first season of Prison Cell 211 landed on the streaming platform on February 5, and has been climbing the charts since.

It currently sits at the number three spot of non-English global shows, and is number one in 13 countries.

The six-part series follows a human rights lawyer who becomes trapped in a prison riot.

He’s forced to disguise himself as one of the inmates in order to survive against prison life of danger and violence.

Prison Cell 211 is based on a true story, following a riot that took place at a state prison in Ciudad Juarez, a Mexican border town, on December 31, 2022.
