Jack Whitehall’s sweet gesture during Brits 2025 you don’t see on ITV

It's all love at the Brits.

The Brits 2025 provided many talking points, but there is one sweet gesture that viewers at home miss out on.

From Danny Dyer ripping into Sir Keir Starmer to Sabrina Carpenter’s racy performance attracting Ofcom complaints, the latest awards ceremony, and the afterparties, had it all going on.

To run proceedings Jack Whitehall returned as the shindig’s presenter for the fifth time.

The 36-year-old comedian kept the show running, seamlessly introducing the various segments, but also taking the time to make plenty of jokes.

Some of his best material came from when he plonked himself on the famous guests’ tables and did some good old-fashioned mickey-taking.

Although he went in pretty hard on some stars (sorry KSI) Jack always showed it was all in good spirits with a sweet gesture.

Being inside London’s O2 for the evening meant I could see exactly what happened in the immediate aftermath of the interactions. I can reveal that when the cameras turned away from Jack and his latest victim, sorry interviewee, he would initiate a big hug.

Viewers at home were sent to an advert break, or back to the stage, so they didn’t get to see that Jack’s ridicule was always followed by the sign of affection.

The move wasn’t ever rejected, instead all the stars including KSI, Jade and Five, enthusiastically reciprocated.

Their acceptance indicated that they didn’t take too much offence to any insults. The classy move instead suggested that they were all firmly in on the joke and nobody’s feelings were too badly hurt.

KSI, 31, perhaps had the toughest time when it came to Jack’s digs. Jack repeatedly questioned just how KSI had managed to be nominated for Thick Of It.

‘The guy that will have a go at literally anything – YouTuber, rapper, boxer, energy drink Willy Wonka, rapper – yes, his drink is Prime and his music is slightly past its prime, KSI,’ Jack remarked. He also said KSI judging Britain’s Got Talent was like ‘like Stephen Hawking judging Strictly Come Dancing’.

It didn’t end there, Jack then played a snippet of his song before hitting a red buzzer, similar in design to the one used on Britain’s Got Talent, to end it.

‘I listen to Kendrick Lamar and I think I couldn’t do this, but I listen to your stuff and I think ”Oh yeah I could do this”,’ he cuttingly said.

The YouTube star later acknowledged being one of Jack’s main targets in an Instagram post.

‘Went to the @brits. Got nominated for song of the year. Lost. Got cooked by @jackwhitehall What a night ???????? Thanks @itv for having me.’

Best hip-hop/grime/rap act winner Stormzy — real name Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. — also faced comments about his controversial collaboration with McDonald’s.

He has received backlash for linking himself to the company that has appeared to support Israel. The actions conflicted with the artist’s own alleged beliefs, as he has previously shared pro-Palestinian messages online.

Avoiding the political aspect of ‘The Stormzy Meal’ Jack instead said: ‘In the 90s, you’d find your rappers doing drive-bys; this one you can find at the drive-thru – nominated for two Brit Awards this evening – we didn’t send him a limo tonight, we ‘deliverooed’ him here, it’s Stormzy. The grime scene’s Ronald McDonald. He’s loving it.’

Stormzy, 31, alluded to the topic himself during his acceptance speech, telling fans ‘it was a ‘mad, funny time’ to receive the honour.

The recently reunited Five couldn’t escape a few jibes. He asked them to do two things on their upcoming tour – to avoid dynamic pricing and to not bring out any new music.

In another funny conversation, Jack brought up best pop act winner Jade’s NSFW merchandise, including edible underwear, lubricant and butt plugs.

Initially, Jade, 32, looked uncomfortable and pointed out that her mother Norma Badwi was sitting right next to Jack. However, after overcoming the initial shock of the subject quick-witted Jade fired back: ‘Is this your way of saying you’ve bought one of my butt plugs?’

Jack went along with the direction of the chat and said he was wearing it right at that moment and it was ‘very comfortable’.
