Today Kate Cassidy looked back on her last ever Valentine’s Day with Liam Payne months before his death last year.

The former One Direction star died aged 31 on October 16 after he fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Kate, 25, posted a devastating statement after the news of his death, revealing that they had ‘planned to marry’ in the next year, and now she is reflecting on their final Valentine’s Day together.

Taking to Instagram, the internet personality shared multiple pictures to commemorate the day, including a present she received from one of her close friends.

Alongside a vase of red roses, she held a framed collage featuring multiple images of Kate and Liam sharing hugs and kisses and posing for photos together at events.

In the middle of the photos, a blank space read, ‘444 LP [loveheart] KC.’

‘Couldn’t ask for a better best friend,’ she wrote, tagging her pal Alexandra Di Maria. ‘This Valentine’s gift is so special.’

A second image shared on her Instagram Story was a screenshot of her notifications from the popular app Northern Lights Forecast.

The app – which she keeps in her phone still – notifies users when the northern lights are filling the sky above them.

She wrote: ‘Came across this when I first woke up checking my notifications… Liam and I were seeing the Northern lights exactly a year ago today for Valentine’s. I never deleted this app since.’

Signing off her post, she wrote: ‘Signs are real 444, happy valentine’s Liam’.

Kate has previously spoken about the meaning of the angel number ‘444’.

They are particularly special to her as the Teardrops had written them on a note manifesting the couple’s marriage just months prior to his death.

In the spiritual world, angel numbers are number sequences, usually three or four of the same number. 444 can suggest a guardian angel is watching over the person seeing the numbers.

Kate’s post comes two weeks after she gave The Sun her first interview since losing her partner of two years, where she said she was ‘trying to be as strong as I can be’.

‘I feel really alone but I know Liam wouldn’t want me to. He would want me to do what makes me happy and to be as strong as I can be like, no matter what people say. He would tell me: “Please just take care of yourself, because I can’t take care of you anymore”,’ she told the news outlet.

She also spoke about how much the late star ‘loved One Direction. It was such a huge part of his life and career.’

‘Who didn’t love them? I think everybody had hopes for a reunion at some point.

‘Liam would have been more than happy in the future to do that. He was so proud of the boys. He loved them so much he looked at them as brothers.’

The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Argentina is continuing to investigate the circumstances around Payne’s death at the Casa Sur Hotel.

Five people have been charged over his death, including the singer’s friend Roger Nores, the hotel’s manager, and a receptionist – who were all accused of manslaughter.

Two others, a hotel employee and a waiter, have been charged with supplying cocaine, Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office previously said in a statement.

A hearing was held by Buckinghamshire Coroner’s Court in December to ascertain how Payne died. It has been adjourned until a pre-inquest review on November 6.

Nores has made a legal complaint in the US against Payne’s father, Geoff Payne – claiming ‘false’ sworn declarations to Argentine officials.

Court documents filed in Florida in January claim the pair had a ‘dear mutual friendship’ but insisted he ‘never had a legal duty of care’ towards him.
