A teenager has credited Metallica for saving her parent’s lives after a car crashed into their home.

The American heavy metal band, which was formed in 1981, has released 11 studio albums and has won 10 Grammy Awards over the years.

Metallica are also one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, having sold more than 125 million albums worldwide.

They are currently on their M72 World Tour, which began in April 2023 and is set to end on July 5, 2026, in London.

The band are currently performing in the US, however earlier this month some of their fans had an incredibly close call ahead of attending a concert in Blacksburg, Virginia.

They’ve now said being fans of Metallica avoided tragedy, as they’d gone to bed early ahead of taking their daughter Madeline McKee, 14, to the band’s concert later that day.

Speaking to the WDBJ7 news station, David and Kristin McKee shared that they usually stay up late and watch TV into the early hours in the living room.

‘[I asked David,] “Do you wanna sit up?” And he was like, “Nah, I think I just wanna go on to bed”. I said, “I’ll go on to bed too”. Then, just a few hours later, we heard a loud explosion, glass shattered. It was just madness from that point on,’ she told the station.

‘We were so fortunate that, that night, my daughter could have walked down that hallway and found us in the rubble.

‘I thank God every day, and Metallica, for saving us.’
