We’re ready to but our quick-step to the test. (Picture: Nadiya Bychkova/Metro/Lounges.tv)Craig Gardner, Lounges.tv Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, comments: ‘We’ve called the app Showcase because we see it as just that. If you’re an artist or any kind of creator it can be very hard to be visible on other apps or platforms unless you have a huge following, so we’ve built this app to showcase the amazing emerging and aspiring talent we know is hiding in plain sight. And more than that, the app enables the public to play a major role in championing their favourite artists and creators. We can’t wait to reward our competition winners with amazing prizes that will make a positive difference to their lives. Everyone can get involved – it’s free to enter and free to vote!’
In addition to Simon Cowell, the streaming platform is backed by BBC iPlayer founder Ben Lavender and legal professional and television personality Rob Rinder. Lounges.tv enables creators (musicians, comedians, fitness trainers and many other kinds of creators) to monetise their talent and engage with their following through live, interactive streaming, video-on-demand ‘Stream Drops’ and ‘One2Ones.’
While Showcase is the new digital home for talent discovery and competitions, Lounges.tv remains the home of exclusive, longer-form content, curated by the creators themselves, on their own channels or ‘Lounges’.
In contrast to the many streaming platforms that rely on a conventional ad-based revenue model Lounges.tv creator-first revenue model presents a fairer and faster way for musicians, and creators more generally, to monetise their content online. Creators keep 80% of all their streaming income and are paid within 24 hours of their content appearing on Lounges.tv.
