Major British actor unrecognisable travelling on the London Underground
Turns out celebs really are just like us.

Celebrities always say they’re just like us, now one British actor is putting his money where his mouth is by taking the London Underground.
After rising to fame for his roles in Me Before You and The Hunger Games, it’s safe to say this star is a fairly recognisable heartthrob, prone to a few excited fan run-ins.
But it seems Sam Claflin isn’t too worried about that, as he was seen this week swapping private cars for public transport.
Taking to Instagram, the actor, 38, who recently starred in The Count of Monte Cristo, shared with his four million followers an unexpected night of adventures.
It all started with a sneaky – yet artsy – selfie on the tube.
Bundled up in a black beanie, red hoodie and denim jacket, the star looked away from the camera as he listened to some tunes through his headphones.

While it’s one of the only times Sam has shared snaps from his public transport trips, the actor is likely no stranger to the underground as he is a London local and owns a lush home in West London.
In 2020, he even told Conde Nast Traveller that it was one of his favourite places in the world.
‘London – in the summer, specifically – which I know is a cop-out. I didn’t visit until I was 17. I’d never been there on a school trip or anything, but I was drawn to it from what I’d seen in films and on TV and things I’d read. It’s home for my children, and I don’t imagine myself ever wanting to live anywhere else. It ticks all the boxes.’
Sam has two children with his ex-wife, Laura Haddock: a 10-year-old son named Pip and a 7-year-old daughter named Margot.

Sam rarely speaks about his life as a father, but he told Variety in 2023, upon the release of the Amazon Prime show Daisy Jones and the Six, that the early days of solo parenting were quite tough.
‘I’d been through quite a lot personally at the time. I was in a really bad place,’ he explained. ‘I think I needed to work out a few kinks in my own life, to figure out who I was as this dad on my own in a house outnumbered by two toddlers.’
Following his marriage breakdown, Sam went on to date model Cassie Amato, 31. However, they announced their split late last year, with sources claiming the pair’s busy schedules made it difficult for them to maintain their relationship.
‘It was his first proper relationship after splitting from his wife Laura Haddock, and they had lots of fun together,’ a source told Daily Mail.
‘Things ran their course – the distance between them and different schedules got too much.

It’s unclear if Sam is currently dating anyone. Instead, he seems to be busy enough as he is starring in and executively producing the upcoming Amazon Prime thriller series Lazarus alongside Bill Nighy and Alexandra Roach.
Lazarus, which began filming early last year, has been a longtime coming for fans and is expected to be a great watch as it is created by Harlan Coben and screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst, also known as the two men behind Netflix’s hugely successful series, Fool Me Once.
While the series was based on a book written by Harlan, the upcoming production is an original series.
‘Lazarus is a psychological thriller with an emotional spine,’ Danny has previously shared.
‘It’s about fathers and sons, love and loss. We have attempted to bring our trademark wit and warmth as well as twists galore. This is the first collaboration the team at Quay Street, Harlan and myself have done with Amazon and we are delighted to be partnering with them.’
One of the actor’s most memorable roles is as Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games film series (Picture: Lionsgate)In the series, Sam plays the titular character, nicknamed Laz, Bill stars as his on-screen father, and Alexandra slips into the role of Sam’s on-screen sister.
It’s unclear exactly when the series will be available for fans to watch, but it is anticipated to be released sometime this year and is rumoured to come out before Harlan’s next Netflix series, Run Away.
UK fans will have to keep their eyes peeled while watching the show as the majority of the filming took place in Manchester, with some scenes being shot in the Lancaster seaside town of Morecambe.
