TV personality Gethin Jones revealed he has been booted off Hinge multiple times after 300 accusations of catfishing.

The 46-year-old BBC Morning Live presenter, who appeared in season five of Strictly Come Dancing, shared the tragic dating app tale in a new interview.

‘A couple of weeks ago I was kicked off Hinge twice in eight hours for violating the Code of Conduct. 300 women had reported me for catfishing,’ he said.

The star joked that clearly the paid version of the app wasn’t working for him.

As he told the new Restless Natives podcast with Martin Compston & Gordon Smart: ‘It was that moment when you have to write to Hinge, on a Thursday night, all alone, “Dear Hinge, it’s Gethin here, 46, I just want to get my money back because it’s not really working for me”, eating some cereal because there’s nothing in the fridge.

‘That’s when I’m like, “What am I doing with my life?”‘

For the most part, Gethin keeps his private life away from the spotlight, including his romantic dalliances.

He was engaged to opera singer Katherine Jenkins in 2011 but the pair broke up just 10 months later.

He’s also been known to date Towie star Lucy Mecklenburgh and German model Katja Zwara, with the most recent rumours linking him with First Dates’ Cici Coleman in 2023.

The Welsh star has also previously opened up on the negative side of fame, including his experience with a stalker while hosting Blue Peter from 2005 to 2008.

He once recalled: ‘It was weird to the point where I had some security, which I thought was a lot, but they felt… you know, obviously they knew stuff that I didn’t.’

Describing the situation as ‘terrifying,’ he added: ‘You know, you go and do your job every day thinking that’s it and then for whatever reason…

‘I think it’s interesting on telly, the medium of TV is really powerful and people think they know you really well and there’s occasions where you maybe don’t get back to someone because you just don’t, because don’t know them and they find that offensive.’

Right now, however, Gethin has one goal in mind and it’s not wooing sceptical strangers on Hinge.

He recently revealed that he and co-star Helen Skelton will be undertaking a 24-hour rollerskating challenge in aid of comic relief which he said has ‘never felt more important.’

And last month he opened up about his high cholesterol diagnosis.

‘We know it can cause heart disease in the future and strokes as well.

‘It’s something you’ve really got to take seriously. I just had so many questions! I felt really uneducated,’ he said at the time as he explored what measures he could take for a healthy lifestyle.
