US actress slams Elon Musk for sparking ‘insane death threats’ over fake casting rumour
'The way she read him for filth omg…'

The Bear star Ayo Edebiri had some choice words for Tesla billionaire Elon Musk in a savage takedown.
The controversial businessman, who is a vocal supporter of US President Donald Trump, has long been criticised for his right-wing leaning views (recently accused of making a Nazi-style salute) and mismanagement of social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
Now, the Emmy-winning actor, 29, has joined the cacophony of voices speaking out against the newly-hired special government employee, thanks to Elon’s decision to spread fake news about her.
Ayo posted an Instagram story showing a screenshot of Elon’s X account in which he had retweeted the false news that she had been recast in Johnny Depp’s role for the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
He shared the comment ‘Disney sucks’ with his hundreds of millions of followers when the reports circulated last year.
The Bottoms star explained that this act had resulted in horrific consequences for her online, sending a slew of trolls her way.
The award-winning actor took to her Instagram story to set the record straight (Picture: Instagram/Ayo Edebiri) Although she did make light of the situation too (Picture: Instagram/Ayo Edebiri)‘Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man,’ she wrote.
‘LMAO. So not only is he double s**g h**l-ing [sieg heil-ing] fascist, he’s an idiot but anyway.’
The screenstar, about to appear in Opus, then noted at the bottom: ‘Life is, of course, a gift’.
And in the next story she even cracked a joke when one commenter said she would ‘eat [the role] up a lil bit’.
‘Wait no DEI but I’ve changed my mind maybe we could make some money idk lmk,’ she quipped.
The original account that posted the rumours that she was taking over Depp’s role as Captain Jack Sparrow, Unlimited Ls, has responded to Ayo’s call-out.
‘These people are completely unhinged. Ayo Edebiri waited over a year to address rumors and credible reports circulating in Hollywood from trustworthy sources.
‘And, of course, she attacks Elon Musk. By the way, this post was deleted by mistake after I decided to clean up my timeline and present a more professional image,’ the person behind the account defended.
Ayo was praised by fans for her sharp response (Picture: A24/ AP)Several people online have come to Ayo’s defence and praised her words following her admission about the immense impact.
‘The way she read him for filth omg…’ @theauricred wrote on X.
‘And that’s why I stan her,’ mrcvents added.
‘Oh she ate with that,’ kayl_bucki said.
Her comments come alongside another Hollywood star, Bill Burr, also hitting out against Elon.
On NPR’s podcast Fresh Air, he offered his take on the current climate in the USA and online.
Bill Burr has also recently spoken out against Elon (Picture: Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock)The comedian said: ‘I’m trying to get regular people to stop yelling at each other and realize that it’s a select few group of nerds eating raw almonds and doing their stupid workouts and competing with each other to have the biggest infinity pool, and the rest of us are getting pushed down.
‘They’ve politicized the whole stupid thing and we’re falling for it.’
He then clarified exactly who the ‘almond eating nerds’ were.
He continued: ‘That idiot Elon Musk, who evidently is a Nazi.
‘I just refuse to believe it was an accidental two-time Sieg Heil [by Musk], and he does it at a presidential inauguration!’
