US band cancel UK gigs as they split and accuse bandmate of ‘heinous acts’
The band band confirmed the split on Instagram

American band Gel revealed they have cancelled the rest of their UK tour dates and confirmed they are ‘no longer a band’.
The musical group from New Jersey have made the shock decision to splitafter accusing one of their band members of ‘heinous acts.’
The hardcore punk band made serious allegations against former guitarist Anthony Webster – who is yet to comment on the claims.
On Wednesday (March 19), the group posted a statement announcing their break up on Instagram.
‘Gel is no longer a band, and therefore will not be playing any of our currently scheduled upcoming shows,’ the statement read.
‘The reason is pretty simple at its core; the former guitar player, Anthony Webster, has committed such heinous acts in trying to forward himself in his musical career that he’s done irreparable damage to the band in the process, and it’s affected us as human beings more than we can even attempt to explain, to the point of being completely unable to do the band anymore.’
As the Instagram post slides progressed, more allegations of inappropriate behaviour came to light.
On why it took them time to speak out, the band concluded the post: ‘If you’ve ever been in [an] abusive relationship, emotionally and/or physically, you’ll probably understand this better.
‘It’s like that, but with your life’s work and passion at the forefront as well. It’s not so easy to just give something up that you care so much about… we wish that this could have all been easier, and we wish that it didn’t have to end this way…’
It is currently unknown whether the band will be taking legal action against him.
The band will also now no longer be fulfilling their UK tour, as well as cancelling their scheduled performance at Coachella next month.
