Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? fans rage over careless historical error
Sunday night's show got viewers raging.

ITV viewers and historians everywhere have expressed their rage after a glaring historical error was made during Sunday’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
The long-running British quiz show, which first started in 1998, is now hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, who joined the show in 2018 after its four-year hiatus.
Originally hosted by Chris Tarrant – who sat in the presenter’s chair for 16 years – Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? still has the same 15-question format.
Contestants can land £1million by answering them all correctly – but a Millionaire hopeful was given the opposite of a helping hand by a glaring historical error on Sunday night.
Neel Clements was lucky enough to be sitting opposite host Jeremy and was going along comfortably enough in the early rounds before the historical inaccuracy reared its head.
GP Neel was asked which of King Henry VIII’s wives was the last to be married to him, therefore becoming the one who ‘survived’ according to the popular rhyme.
Neel Clements was correct… sort of? (Picture: ITV)The four possible answers available to Neel were Catherine Parr, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine of Aragon.
However, fans watching at home immediately spotted that Catherine Parr, Catherine Howard, and Catherine of Aragon had all had their names spelt incorrectly.
On X, user @Balr0g was quick to spot the error: ‘Since when was Catherine of Aragon, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr spelt with a “K” as Katherine?’
Viewers noticed the error straight away (Picture: ITV)Elsewhere, @JustinandKimsMa also doubted whether the question writers had got it correct: ‘I thought it was Catherine with a C not a K for Aragon (the first wife).’
@Amz07 asked aloud, ‘Why have they spelt Catherine wrong?’ while @PistonBroker said after Neel had answered the question: ‘It’s not the right answer, because Catherine Parr is spelt with a C.’
However, Neel didn’t make it much further, falling at the £7,000 hurdle after using at least two of his lifelines despite it still being the early rounds.
He still left the show with £1,000, however, and thanked Jeremy on his way out of the studio, allowing the next contestant to sit in the hot seat.
It’s not the first time in recent months that Who Wants to Be a Millionaire viewers have been left raging after noticing an ‘error’ on-screen.
A rare faux-pas for the long-running ITV quiz show (Picture: ITV)In November 2024, contestant Emily was asked which of the following four celebrities had been a judge on both Strictly Come Dancing and Britain’s Got Talent.
Amanda Holden, Bruno Tonioli, Darcey Bussell, or Alesha Dixon – Alesha proved to be the correct answer, but viewers noticed that the answer immediately dated the episode.
That’s because Bruno Tonioli became a judge on Britain’s Got Talent in 2023, four years after stepping down as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing.
Alesha joined Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 after sitting on the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel for three years, following her Strictly Glitterball win in 2007.
