The third episode of Adolescence sees Erin make her debut as Briony, a psychologist assigned to Jamie’s case.
Erin Doherty hailed the talents of her co-star Owen Cooper, who plays Jamie in his first ever acting role (Picture: Courtesy of Ben Blackall/Netflix)During their hour-long interaction, their conversation flits between a friendly back-and-forth to Jamie unleashing an unnervingly intimidating side of his personality.
When doing her own research for the character, Erin reveals that she spoke to her previous therapist to find out what a day in the life was like for them and to ‘try and get in that head space’.

‘So I didn’t actually really want to bring too much,’ she explained.
‘I think particularly psychologically, people who are in that line of work are very in the moment. I was conscious that what you needed to see was someone who was present, rather than having that context. So I basically did my research and then let it all go, in order to serve the piece as best I could.’
Adolescence is available to stream on Netflix.
