Aubrey Plaza and filmmaker husband Jeff Baena ‘separated months before his death’
He died in January aged 47.

Aubrey Plaza and her filmmaker husband Jeff Baena were reportedly separated for several months before his death.
Baena died aged 47 on January 3 2025, and was found at home near the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner concluded he died by suicide.
The film creator married Parks and Recreation actress Aubrey, 40, in 2021, having been in a relationship together for a decade.
It has now been reported that the couple separated months before his death.
A medical examiner’s report states the pair parted ways when Aubrey moved to New York in September last year.
It is said police spoke to the actress on the phone after Baena was found dead, and she confirmed their separation.’
‘In October 2024, Baena made concerning remarks which prompted her to call a friend to perform a welfare check on her husband,’ the report adds, according to PA.

The examiner said Plaza ‘last knew her husband to be alive when he sent her a text message’ on the morning of the day he died.
Following his death, Aubrey and the family of Baena shared a statement, saying: ‘This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.’
Baena worked with Aubrey on 2014 horror film Life After Beth and 2017 historical comedy The Little Hours.

Aubrey, who has starred in hit films including Megalopolis, My Old Ass, Ingrid Goes West, Dirty Grandpa and Emily The Criminal, spoke about her intimate wedding with Baena during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021.
She said they ‘got a little bored one night’ during the pandemic and decided to wed after celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary.
She said that after finding a wedding officiant online to perform the ceremony in their garden, she ‘created a very quick love altar in our yard’ where they married.
