Blink-182 rocker Mark Hoppus reveals ‘awful’ date with famous actress
They had absolutely nothing in common.

Hollywood sparks some surprising couples, especially in the 90s, but love doesn’t always last, as Blink-182 legend Mark Hoppus confessed.
The bassist, who was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, revealed he once went on a ‘tough’ date with Sabrina the Teenage Witch icon Melissa Joan Hart.
The unlikely pair met at the Teen Choice Awards, according to Mark, 53, in his new book Fahrenheit-182.
Blink-182 formed in 1992 while Melissa, 48, was a child actress who had been working since the late 80s before landing her first starring role in 1991.
‘She must’ve found me interesting because she had her publicist reach out to my label’s publicist to give me her number,’ the All The Small Things hitmaker shared.
He sets the tone of their brief romance by adding: ‘Totally normal courtship.’

‘I thought I was so slick using this Hollywood industry jargon, but I doubt it impressed her. I was newly famous, but she had been famous for years.’
Mark’s approach clearly worked magic as the pair went on a sushi date to a restaurant in ‘the Valley’, California.
However, sparks did not fly for this Hollywood A-List couple with the What’s My Age Again? singer branding the date ‘awful’.

According to the rocker, Melissa told him she usually just eats whatever catering provides on set, rather than sharing her favourite foods.
When asked what she enjoys reading, the TV star reportedly told him she is ‘usually reading scripts for work’.
‘I’m sure from her perspective, all I could talk about was music,’ Mark added. ‘We just weren’t a great match. It was tough.’
Even though the pair weren’t exactly compatible, Melissa showed him around her home after the date, which had a view of the city and a hot tub.

She dropped me back at my hotel.’
Turns out that around the same time, Mark was in the early days of getting to know his now wife Skye Everly.
When he got back to his room, there was a voicemail from Skye waiting, so the rockstar called her back and ‘talked about everything’.
He said: ‘We talked about where we grew up and what our families were like. We talked about our careers. We talked about our favorite albums.
‘We talked for so long that the sun came up and we realised we’d talked all night.’

The pair then wed in 2000 and welcomed their son Jack two years later on August 5.
Meanwhile, Melissa married another musician named Mark – Mark Wilkerson – in 2003 after meeting at the Kentucky Derby the year before.
They share three sons, Mason, Braydon, and Tucker, and live together in Nashville as of 2020.
Metro has reached out to Melissa’s team for comment.
