Britney Spears has caused concern among her fans after sharing a lengthy post about her heartache.

The 00s pop star took to social media this morning to share a candid post about her controversial conservatorship, which saw her father make all of her decisions for her for 13 years.

Having been freed from the legal arrangement in 2021, Britney, 43, has reflected on the difficult time, telling fans she was ‘abused 100%’ during the arrangement and sometimes turned to alcohol when things became too hard.

Sharing a picture of a golden chalice, she began the post by writing: ‘HOLY GRAIL !!! I’m not lying though. I don’t like drinking. I do it for my heart when it’s been through too much but I’m weird.’

She continued to tell her fans that she takes on ‘a lot of pain’ and believes she needs to change that, as she puts in ‘a lot of work people will never see.’

Going on to discuss her conservatorship, which ran between 2008 and 2021, she told fans that she had been ‘abused 100%’ during the time her father, Jamie Spears, was in charge of her affairs.

‘I was never a star that could speak up in the conservatorship! I was in a business that preyed over the innocent and controlled where I went, who I saw, what I ate, which is 100% unfair and if I spoke up I was abused and I never did anything wrong!” the Toxic singer wrote.

Britney’s conservatorship was put in place on February 1, 2008 by Judge Reva Goetz.

Naming the popstar’s father and lawyer, Andrew M. Wallet as conservators, the men were responsible for Britney, her estate, finances and work commitments.

The New York Times would later report that it was such a strict agreement that who the Gimme More singer became friends with and where she was allowed to go were controlled, and they ‘logged her every purchase down to a drink from Starbucks.’

A change was only made in 2019 when Jodi Montgomery, an attorney and licensed care manager, was appointed as Spears’s personal conservator when Jamie had to step away due to illness.

Jodi became a vital person in the highly publicised #FreeBritney case and was the person who filed for Jamie to be removed as a conservator in order to help her client’s mental health.

‘I have had numerous, ongoing conversations with the medical team, and we all agree that it would be best for Ms. Spears’ well-being and mental health that her father stop acting as her Conservator,’ Jodi said in a 2021 statement.

At the time, Jodi was supported by Britney’s mum, Lynne, who testified that in 2018, when she was involved in her daughter’s conservatorship, the musician was being treated by a ‘spots enhancement’ doctor, as per Jamie’s demand.

Lynne claimed the doctor was ‘prescribing what I and many others thought to be entirely inappropriate medicine to my daughter, who did not want to take the medicine.’

She added that due to the ‘absolutely microscopic control’ of Jamie, he and Britney’s relationship had been reduced to ‘fear and hatred.’

In November 2021, Britney was released from her conservatorship and shortly after went on to marry her long-time boyfriend, Sam Asghari – something she wasn’t able to do under her father’s control.

While the pair divorced 14 months later, they have continued to speak fondly of each other and appear to remain supportive.

Since being freed from her father’s control, Britney and Jamie have remained estranged.

It remains unclear where exactly she stands with the rest of her family. However, her mum shared a sweet birthday message for her in December and it’s understood they spent the day together.

A source also revealed to People magazine: ‘Lynne is really making an effort to be in Britney’s life. Britney likes spending time with her.’

‘They have a complicated relationship, but it seems they both need each other.’
