Cancel your weekend plans to binge this Netflix thriller fans called ‘exceptional’
‘Friendship is not weakness’

Got a busy weekend ahead? Planning on seeing friends or going out with the family? Well, cancel those plans now because Netflix has a new show you need to watch.
This morning, the second season of Weak Hero: Class 1 dropped on Netflix to the delight of fans around the world who’ve been waiting three years to see how the show will resolve season one’s big cliffhanger.
If somehow you missed the first season, let me set up the story. The Netflix thriller follows Yeon Si-eun, a genius who’s in the top 1% of his class.
Sadly, while he’s academically brilliant, he couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag made of particularly thin paper.
This wouldn’t be a problem for Si-eun if it weren’t for the fact that a ruthless school bully has decided to make his life a living hell.

With nowhere else to turn, the usually shy Si-eun turns to his classmates Ahn Su-ho and Oh Beom-seok for help… and let’s just say things get bloodier from there.
Described by critics as fast-paced and violent, the first season of Weak Hero: Class 1 has scored an impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes while fans online have labelled it an ‘exceptional’ thriller.
Unsurprisingly, the K-drama has been a smash hit for Netflix.
The series has spent four weeks in the streaming services’ list of top ten performing non-English shows and has been watched by 1.8 million people, some of whom have taken to social media to share how much they love Si-eun’s trials and tribulations.
‘Weak hero Class 1 is sooo good,’ wrote Buri on X. This belief was shared by Shi, who said the series ‘was so good’ and joked she’ll ‘never be the same again. ’
If you like your K-drama’s violent then you’re in the right place (Picture: Darae Lee/Netflix)However, the most vociferous praise came from Reddit when on the K-drama forum, where Double-Cut4778 wrote: ‘It’s so good. I was blown away, and it was hands down the best K-drama I saw from last year for me.’
‘It consumed my thoughts for weeks at least. I could not shut up about it. I really hope they continue the story.’
And while season two might only have been out for a few hours now, fans were very excited for its return with plenty of people sharing their excitement on social media, claiming they couldn’t wait to watch it when they got home from work or claiming they were muting the words ‘Weak Hero Class 2 to avoid spoilers.
Sadly, some of Yeon Si-eun’s classmates are in the wrong place (Picture: Darae Lee/Netflix)Of course, some dedicated fans had clearly planned ahead and managed to binge the whole thing in less than a day.
So what’s their verdict? Well, without spoiling anything, it seems the latest chapter in Si-eun’s story was more than worth the wait.
Taking to X to share her ‘controversial take’, @Dia wrote that while it’s rare for a second season to outdo the first, she had to admit that ‘Weak Hero Class 2 is better than Weak Hero Class 1’.

‘I didn’t want it to end,’ he continued. ‘Insane fight scenes, emotional gut-punches, and characters you’ll obsess over (even the villains), even though I really wish we got more of Su-ho.’
Sadly, you can’t please everyone, it seems, and we found one dissenting voice.
Fans are already loving season 2 (Picture: Darae Lee/Netflix)Tanmay Singh wrote on X that they were ‘disappointed’ by the show and thought it failed to live up to the first season.
Still, it looks like the majority of fans are loving the latest run of episodes. So, why waste time in the sun this weekend, when (like Si-eun) you could spend it making some new friends?
And remember, ‘friendship is not weakness’.
Weak Hero: Class 1 is streaming now on Netflix.
