McFly’s Danny Jones has released a statement apologising to his wife after he was snapped kissing I’m A Celebrity co-star Maura Higgins.

Danny, 38, has been married to wife Georgia Horsley since 2014, appeared to kiss Love Island star Maura, 34, at a Brits after-party in early March, and the photos quickly went viral.

Addresssing the scandal, the star posted a statement on his Instagram story apologising to his wife.

‘Hello everyone, sorry I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me.

‘I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation.

‘I love them so much, and we’ll continue to deal with this privately.’

He then thanked his fans as he concluded: ‘I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support.’

The pair spent the night together at the event, with onlookers then filming them appearing to lock lips around three in the morning.

Maura is single after her recent split from The Only Way is Essex and Strictly star Pete Wicks, but Danny has been married for over a decade.

Sources claimed at the time that the pair ‘seemed to be having a great time’ before sharing a ‘brief drunken kiss’.

‘Danny and Maura seem to have a close friendship after meeting in the jungle. They were talking and laughing for ages,’ a source told The Sun.

It has been reported that the singer has been holding crisis talks in the weeks since the kiss.

‘This saga has been embarrassing, and Danny had a lot of explaining to do,’ a source told The Sun.

According to the insider, the couple is ‘keen to just move past it and get on with their lives’.

‘They’ve been away for a few days, and they are focused on being a family unit,’ they said, emphasising that Danny and Georgia are ‘both committed to each other’.

Earlier this week, Danny and Georgia were seen on a walk together for their first public outing since the scandal.

Maura has yet to address the scandal, but sources informed Metro that the ordeal has hit her hard.

‘Maura doesn’t understand why she is bearing the brunt of the backlash. The social media comments have been relentless, and she’s been feeling incredibly low for the past week.

‘She wants to move on from the situation, but is worried this might not die down any time soon, or at least until Danny speaks out. Maura is thinking about Georgia throughout all of this.

Just a few days ago, Maura was seen heading to Los Angeles, the source claimed that this was the perfect escape for the star.

‘She’s enjoying being in LA and getting stuck into work to distract her from the taunting she’s getting online. For now it feels like an escape.’
