David Beckham has opened up about his rigorous fitness routine, revealing that his wife, Victoria Beckham, isn’t one to take it easy in the gym.

The football legend, who is set to turn 50 in May, has no concerns about reaching the milestone.

‘Doesn’t bother me one bit,’ he revealed in the interview for his new Men’s Health cover.

The former striker has little to worry about in terms of the effects of age on his body. When it comes to staying in peak condition, David’s dedication to fitness remains unwavering.

‘Do you know what, my body’s actually feeling better than it has done for a long time…I play padel three times a week and work out every day – especially when I’m in Miami,’ he shared.

Victoria has also embraced an intense fitness regime, though her approach differs somewhat from her partner’s in that she prefers to do her own routine rather than listen to a trainer.

‘Now we do five days a week, sometimes six together. I love training with Victoria. I give her a lot of grief. We both give each other plenty of grief,’ he laughed.

But when it comes to downtime, Posh Spice is more of a Sporty Spice, with David revealing: ‘She’s not great at taking a rest. He’ll get her to have 90 seconds rest and she’ll be ready to go after 25 seconds.’

While fitness remains a key focus for the Beckhams, family life is just as important.

One way Beckham stays connected with his sons is through skiing and snowboarding.

He said: ‘Me and my boys, we are the first up and we’re the last off the slope. It’s the best part, having those chats on the lifts or in the gondolas. You get into them. The kids can’t go on their phones, they’re just sat there and we’re all chatting – it’s amazing.’

Beckham’s relationship with fitness has changed significantly since his professional football days, when he was far more focused on his skills than his muscles.

He revealed to the publication that his focus used to be on being as lean as possible, meaning he did almost no strength training.

Now, he does upper body strength training and has even gone up ‘one or two cup sizes’ as his pecs have grown, he joked.

Despite his history of injuries—including a broken back during his time playing football in Los Angeles—Beckham continues to push himself physically.

He also revealed: ‘I broke my wrist in South Africa and I still get issues with it. I was told that it was a dissolvable screw. It turns out it wasn’t, so I’ve still got it.’

Beckham’s passion for health and fitness has even led him to launch his own premium supplement brand, IM8.

‘It’s the reason that I wanted to create IM8,’ he said of his journey to being as healthy as possible. ‘IM8 works for me. Gut health, energy, focus – all of it is improved.’
